Possible torch bug[edit]

It seems like sometimes if you pick up all the torches from wall sconces in some dungeons, they may respawn immediately instead of waiting to respawn with the rest of the dungeon. I'll see if I can confirm this more than just the one time it's happened so far today at the Embershard mine. --dUc0N

Another torch bug? If you have a torch equipped while riding a horse, the left hand's position will be the same, and you'll be riding around with the burny end of the torch right in front of your crotch.

The White Phial bug[edit]

The White Phial is bugged where the empty version is not removed when it refills, leaving both the empty and full versions in the player's inventory. 24.156.216.144 01:21, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Also, clicking on it as to 'equip' it will give the standard message it can't be equipped, but will create an extra empty phial every time you click it ~ Dwarfmp 14:51, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

I think that you can just sell the empty ones, though if you do not currently have a full one, you need to keep at least 1 empty one in your inventory. --- Source, personal experience playing on PS3 with 1.5 patch

Black-Briar Mead Keg weight bugged?[edit]

This item's weight is bugged in one of two ways, I can't say for sure which it is because I don't remember my weight before taking the keg: 1. Its actually weightless 2. After giving it to Wilhem, it is removed from your inventory however you are permanently stuck with the 20 weight.

It is weightless. -Aelyth
To be clear, quest items are weightless by design, it isn't a bug. -Vardis 21:30, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Ysgramor's Soup Spoon[edit]

Is it just me, or is his soup spoon clearly a fork? Is he just that much of a boss? --67.183.151.247 05:09, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

If you listen to Calixto's explanation, he says that Ysgramor used a fork as a spoon. Slugkid 17:57, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Habd' s Remains[edit]

I can't remove this item from the inventory even though I have finished the lighthouse quest. Am I just permanently stuck with the 1kg weight? I have the same problem with the Amulet of Talos (have 2 of them), though I haven' t played any related quests of it yet. Migrant 121.98.84.165 21:55, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Take it up to the lighthouse brazier and activate the brazier.--Bwross 07:42, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

= Dunno how to help you, but all I can tell you is do not worry about the weight; even though it states how much it weights, it will not weigh you down, as though it was weightless. The Lost 23:42, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Habd's Remains is a quest item, if you read the journal on his wife's corpse (located on the main floor of the lighthouse, it'll become clear what to do with the item to remove it from your inventory. This isn't a bug, but how all quest items work.

The talos amulet is a quest item for a women in solitude. You can read more about it here. Cjesseg (talk) 20:31, 11 March 2014 (GMT)

Map of Dragon Burials 000bbcd5[edit]

The Map of Dragon Burials is located in the secret room of the Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood that Delphine opens. I placed this map on a shelf in my house, Breezehome, in Whiterun. Now it's gone and I have searched everywhere for it. Probably due to the 3rd or 5th Physics glitch listed on the Glitches page. [1] Does anyone know of another location where this map can be found at?

Dlsmith08 23:49, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

As far as I've seen this is a unique item. Console commands may be able to bring you a new one if you're a PC player. --Bwross 07:41, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
I have same thing with another items with different houses, but some ingame days later I haven't be in home, items returnes somewhere nearby. I think it's not perfect that items moves around house and you can't decorate your home as you wish Kelebmel 21:53, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Table categories[edit]

The article header asks for cleanup and further sorting. How about breaking away crafting items, i.e., anything you can use for the various Smithing arts & crafts? Pelts, leather, gems and firewood all fit into this category.Asterai 03:48, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

I started to sort through them. There's some weird ones that may or may not have a use. Got through Habd's Remains. I pulled out all of the crafting ingredients and sorted them on this page. Feel free to change as needed/desired. --Bwross 12:21, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
This article could also use a quest items section. Also firewood is hard to categorize since it is a crafting item (improves long bows and hunting bows) but cannot be used to make anything. Plus it is also a radiant quest item (cutting wood), if my suggestion about a quest items section is taken and it could just be used for home decorating.
There is a massive page for quest items. I've been pulling out items from the unsorted list to that list if their only true purpose is as a quest item. Most are unique. Skyrim:Quest Items. There are a handful of items I haven't located the exact quest for and will not move them there until its located as a few may be dummy items not actually in the game. I created a small section for firewood under smithing. Its usage as a smithing ingredient for upgrades is slightly more interesting than its salabilty as a radiant quest item. I put a few headers in to suggest a possible sorting of the remaining list.--Bwross 07:39, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Is there a specific reason why Table of Contents is on a right side of the screen? I noticed that "TOCright" command is used. Why not use "TOCleft"? --Electricitydrive 00:30, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

More thoughts. What about breaking away "Dwemer clutter" (very easy!), "Draugr barrow clutter" (embalming tools and linen wraps), and "common clutter" (all those forks, spoons, dishes and other fiddly things you see everywhere). Something should be done with lockpicks, but I have no idea what. They just don't seem to... fit in with the other things here. Asterai 03:14, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

I pulled it out as best as I could using this suggestion and made categories match other games. I don't know where the stuff left in unsorted belongs. I believe a lot of this page could be further seperated out and new pages likely created.--Bwross 07:23, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for all the work trying to make sense out of the mess that I dumped onto this page.
Having now figured out more about merchant wares, I'm thinking that the top-level organization of the items should match the categories used by merchants, since that determines who will buy/sell the items -- and that perhaps those categories should even be split off onto separate pages. That would mean separate pages for: Animal Hides (includes Leather); Animal Parts (skulls, tusks, etc); Clutter; Gems; Ore/Ingots; Tools (lockpicks, and a few non-useful tools). Firewood is also technically a separate merchant category, but I don't think it warrants a separate page.
Unfortunately, that only takes care of 205 of the 371 different Miscellaneous Items. Many of the remaining 166 are quest items (and as part of my next round of data-mining I'll actually try to identify items that have the "Quest Item" flag), but not all. My inclination would be to keep the remaining non-quest items on this page.
I'm likely to dive into some of this over the next day or so -- unless something else distracts me first. --NepheleTalk 19:11, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Sigil stone question[edit]

Bug in a Jar - What do the runes on the lid say?[edit]

I tried searching for "alphabet" "runes" "rune" "language" etc, and nothing except the Dragon Alphabet page came up. The Dragon Alphabet is definitely not the language being used. I thought it would be neat to add a little note of what the lids say (live forever? a containment spell?). The Butterfly in a Jar has letters formed from straight lines. They resemble "PIg" or "6I4" depending on which way is "up." --Amsuko 20:51, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

The Bee in a Jar says a different word under the lid, looks like D K(or cursive r) t (in angular looking letters). Still cannot find this "language", it looks similar to Nordic runes (but I cannot find all of these letters). --Amsuko 06:49, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Here's what i've found out so far: GIANT/THOR-ICE-SUN NEED/GIFT-HORSE-WATER/LAKE DAY-NEED NEED/GIFT-HAIL-_____ NEED/GIFT-HUMAN-WATER/LAKE

but for all i know this can be as accurate as using google translate to convert japanese to english. i think GIANT-ICE-SUN may refer to something big that is of fire and ice(maybe a dragon that spits fire and ice. i don't know what NEED-HORSE-WATER(or)LAKE means. DAY-NEED/GIFT same thing, dunno. NEED/GIFT-HAIL-____ again, dunno. NEED/GIFT-HUMAN-WATER/LAKE dunno. something i've been thinking of is that water could refer to fluid(NEED/GIFT-HUMAN-FLUID & NEED/GIFT-HORSE-FLUID) this could mean that something demands blood, all in all i think this is some sort of offering/summoning for the Giant of fire and ice. anyone else got anything?

Where are you getting these translations from? Runes are an alphabetic script, not a logographic one. The symbols represent individual sounds, not words. They were sometimes associated with words, but that was just a naming scheme, sort of like the NATO spelling alphabet where the letters are called Alpha Bravo Charlie Delta etc. --129.11.249.180 13:48, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Is there a chart you are using that may list more runes than the Wikipedia link below? Even if we try to "sound out" these runes, there is still the problem that some of the runes don't seem to exist. Can you put a link? Thanks, --Amsuko 19:35, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

This might help - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runic#Runic_alphabets - good luck :) 70.26.143.254 00:17, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Yes, that's the link I had tried first. Several of the shapes match, but several clearly do not match anything listed. Perhaps there is a more specific chart with more runes somewhere. Seems like it must mean something, otherwise, why go through the trouble to hide it under the lid? I think if it was nonsense decoration it would be more noticeable. Surely if someone hid it under the lid and put different 'words' for each bug, they meant for it to mean something. --Amsuko 19:35, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
I think it might be britanian runes be from the Ultima series [2] but I cant say for sure as I have only seen one lid. Xainiax (talk) 03:24, 7 October 2012 (GMT)

Bug in the jar ?[edit]

This is on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLQVfHVdDZg

Sorry, that doesn't help; maybe you didn't actually watch that? If you were being serious, you may want to pay attention to that person's "methodology" because he had none. He randomly changed how he 'decoded' the letters for each jar. Then he indicated vague hints that would 'lead' the person to the next jar. These vague hints could equally lead you to 80% of places in the game. Any person could create the same "conspiracy" between any random objects in the game. Thus, his video is just being silly, and there are thousands of silly Skyrim videos on YouTube. It might be cute, but not actually meaningful. Also, please sign you comments with four tildes (the squiggly marks next to the 1 on your keyboard). Thanks, --Amsuko 20:07, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Vendor trash?[edit]

Several of the items listed as clutter or unknown use have a value of 100, perhaps they were meant to be sold to a vendor, a role-playing approach to the sort of reward a hero may earn from helping a rather poor person?? For some of the, the purpose is simply to sell them, then? Just a thought; I realize the value is still rather low but those stand out in a list of many, many other items worth 0-5 gold each.

Sigil Stone and White Phial[edit]

Both of these items have uses, the Sigil Stone at the Atronach Forge and the White Phial for a quest. Would it be a good idea to move the White Phial (empty) over to Skyrim:Quest Items? I think it would be good to remove the Sigil Stone from where it is now, as the section states that the items are of no discernible use although the Stone is useful, but I would not know where to place the information. --Velyanthe 01:33, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

I kind of had the same thoughts about this when I reverted the deletion, but I figured it was better to have it here than nowhere at all. I think both items would fit better on the 'Quest Items' page, but I don't know if they're truly considered such (Do they have weight? Can you remove them from your inventory before the related objectives are complete?) Alphabetface 03:46, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
According to this page, the Stone has no weight nor value, and the Phial has weight but no value. The Stone might fit under the Atronach Forge section under the Clutter heading on this page, but then again, it's not common. However, it lacks a use except at the Forge. --Velyanthe 04:20, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Sigil Stone Information[edit]

The Sigil Stone page redirects here, and neither the Sigil Stone nor its ID are mentioned. Help?

Are you certain? I used the redirect and it works fine, bringing me straight down to its location. The Sigil Stone was removed for a short while, but that was restored about a half hour before your comment. It is on the page now with the ID 000d363b, under the Unique Items heading. --Velyanthe 03:12, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Werewolf Totem redirects incorrectly here & Quest-related Items are clutter?[edit]

Werewolf totems are not listed on this page, nor are they listed on the linked pages for animal hides or animal parts. Either they should be added, or the redirect should go to the corresponding quest page. In my opinion, they are unique quest items, and should be placed in a new category if placed on this page - not under clutter. However, other quest-related items are already listed under clutter with no links or notes mentioning their corresponding quests. I don't think they should be so casually placed in clutter without a note, but I might be misunderstanding the 'logic' or 'method' for categories in this page. --Amsuko 19:53, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Heart of Winter, Nord War Horn[edit]

Has anyone found these items? Also under the ores/smithing section there appear to be scrap metal including Imperial War horn and Nord War Horn. Are these items obtainable without console commands?99.29.164.65 23:29, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

The "Nord War Horn" is the same (same ID), but I can't find any reference to this three items in the game data, besides one in a container in a test cell. So no, not obtainable. They may be either left overs from something planned or something they will use in some future DLC I guess. --Alfwyn 23:44, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
I actually just found an Imperial War Horn in the Dragonborn DLC. It was in a Rieikling cave just North of Skaal Village, the cave is called Frossel. I found it towards the end of the cave system in a little cut out in the rock wall & next to a chest. It's easy to walk by this spot and not even notice there is a chest there. A hidden Riekling is guarding it, so watch out. Also, I have yet to figure the Imperial War Horn's purpose. Has anyone found the Nordic Horn & the purposes for them? - By irememberjeep on December 8, 2012 @ 16:02 (EST)
I've found the Imperial War Horn in the same location and added a note to the table. — ABCface 05:25, 13 December 2012 (GMT)
I've just found the Nord War Horn in Shadr's inventory while pick pocketing him at the Riften Stables. Running Hearthfire, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn. FYI, the Helgen Reborn addon places a Nord War Horn in one of its dungeons. 208.187.104.111 23:19, 10 March 2014 (GMT)

I just found a Nord War Horn in Ulfric's chambers.

Torches[edit]

I've never had a torch burn out on me. I perhaps don't hold lit torches in my hand long enough, but my handy torch that I've had forever always is lit when I activate it.

Alternately, I have some lighting mods that make indoor buildings too dark, so I like to chuck lit torches in strategic places to brighten things up (they stay lit indefinitely). Problem is, 90% of the torches in my inventory that I drop are unlit on the ground. It'll be lit in my hand, yet go out as soon as it's on the ground. Are there two different hex codes for lit vs. unlit torches? 134.176.247.178 15:30, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Tim Bostick

I find if you drop an unlit torch on the ground and then zone out and back in again, it'll be lit when you go back to it. I've been using this trick to distribute torches around the inside of Sky Haven Temple, which is frankly the most ludicrously dark establishment I've known. Had to kill a lot of guards to gather all the torches necessary. ~ SotiCoto (talk) 22:47, 23 February 2013 (GMT)

Coinpurse[edit]

I don't seem to be able to drop or generate coinpurses with either of the 3 provided IDs. Neither player.drop nor player.placeatme works for me.. generating gold (f) works tho. Has anyone tried/done this before? — Unsigned comment by 95.89.254.70 (talk) at 17:12 on 11 February 2012

This seems to be because of the way coin purses work, it's not really an item when found, but a harvestable "plant". You can add those via player.placeatme using the codes 000d790c, 000d8e7f and 000d8e80. The "plants" can be harvested to give the items listed on this page. The items have a script associated, which seems to be responsible for converting them automatically to coins. --Alfwyn 21:29, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Flag[edit]

Under Other Clutter it says there is a Flag, I've never seen a flag i can pick up, where are they located? — Unsigned comment by 96.29.182.221 (talk) at 20:28 on 22 February 2012

This item exists in the game data, but cannot be obtained if not added on the PC through the console. --Alfwyn 21:52, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
On behalf of all non-PC players, I think that should be noted somehow. There should be a star with a note at the bottom or the standard "notes" column needs to be added to the table and it can be noted there. --Amsuko 08:16, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
I found a flag on the xbox 360 version after I purchased the child's bedroom in Skyrim:Proudspire Manor. It is located on a map of skyrim on the wall. The flag can be picked up. However, I found that dropping the flag from your inventory will cause the flag to float in mid-air instead of falling to the ground. — Unsigned comment by 71.58.148.237 (talk) at 17:01 on 19 October 2014‎

Honey Jar Unobtainable?[edit]

The Honey Jar is listed under unobtainable, however I've definitely found one in my travels in a cave. I was pretty surprised as it's not something I'd seen before, and naturally I can't remember the cave at all, but there is one somewhere. -- Haravikk 18:12, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

They are actually two different items. The one you found is probably Honey (which happens to be in a jar) but the ID is different. Alphabetface 18:16, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Roasted Ox Head and Roasted Ox Leg - are they ONLY available in one place?[edit]

Are these items available anywhere else in the game, except Sovngarde (which you can only travel to once in the game)? If not, they should be given more special notice, such as the collectable bug jars and the unique items. I would add them to unique items, as those all seem to have the strange, collectable nature of the other items on that chart. Technically, there are two ox legs, but surely this could still apply as pretty unique? I did a search for the item names and could find no other page that mentions them. I wanted to see if anyone would object or verify that the ox head and ox legs are available elsewhere in the game. (If they're common clutter, they wouldn't be mentioned in other pages, so it could be that I just haven't come across them by coincidence.) If no one has objections, I will add them. --Amsuko 23:14, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Using torches to light firepots[edit]

During the quest "Alduin's Wall", Esbern and Delphine used their torches to light a couple of unlit firepots in Sky Haven Temple. I tried doing the same thing with my torch, and various fire spells, to no effect. Has anybody found a way to light firepots? BTW, it seems all of the firepots, lit and unlit, in Sky Haven Temple have a unique RefID. --Xyzzy 14:58, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I would speculate that they have unique ID's to activate at a certain point, because I could never get them to light myself. The Silencer has spoken 15:02, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
I also checked firepots at Vlindel Hall in Markarth. They all have unique IDs as well. Curious... --Xyzzy 16:17, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Bugs in a Jar[edit]

This page incorrectly states that all jars can be acquired multiple times, however neither GoldenGlow Estate or Burguk's Longhouse respawn, therefore both the bee and dragonfly are actually unique and only one copy of each can be owned without console commands. --Perfect-Assassin 00:18, 1 May 2012

Is this a question or a statement? Tested in Goldenglow Estate on Skyrim PC 1.9.29.0.8 with the Unofficial Skyrim Patch; the golden bee was not there. GodRaineTalk 03:34, 26 July 2013 (GMT)

torch bashing fire damage[edit]

Has anyone noticed that bashing with a torch sets a target on fire? i never knew because i was just blocking with it and accidently bashed.

Yeah, I've found this to be moderately useful. I'm pretty sure the target takes the equivalent damage of a fire spell's after burn. -- ARandomScientist (talk) 11:55, 28 April 2015 (GMT)

Alternate Torch?[edit]

In the underground area of Hrodulf's House in Solstheim (Dragonborn DLC) I found a torch laying on the ground that has 0 weight and 0 value, and takes up a separate inventory slot than the other torches. Not sure what is special about this torch, haven't really tested it much. It also will respawn over time so you can get more than one. — Unsigned comment by 71.161.253.8 (talk) at 05:55 on 31 December 2012

Indeed. While the torch existed in the game data before, it wasn't placed into the world. I've added it to the article. That location is the only one, btw. --Alfwyn (talk) 23:54, 3 January 2014 (GMT)

This torch uses a different light type, shadow omnidirectional as opposed to omnidirectional. There's almost no illumination while using it. The Real Guide (talk) 17:54, 15 June 2014 (GMT)

This torch from Hrodulf´s House always corrupts my savegames (Skyrim SE). Once in inventory and saved, the game CTDs on every further loading attempt. So I leave it where it is. 84.188.176.159 01:42, 27 May 2017 (UTC) ShabDez

Stone Quarries and Clay Deposits[edit]

Does anyone know where these are located in the game? (Gadianzero (talk) 08:59, 23 January 2013 (GMT))

You can find at least one of each at the three plots of land added by Hearthfire, and they are scattered about in other places as well. You can also check the clay deposit (map) and stone quarries (map) as well. Last (many of these still need to be documented) pages for places with stone quarries are in this category, and pages for places with clay deposits are in this one. — ABCface 15:23, 23 January 2013 (GMT)

Any other light-sources besides Torches?[edit]

I've been collecting torches and distributing them about Sky Haven Temple to try and brighten it up a bit... but it is slow-going as the torch light range isn't very good, and collecting that many torches is getting arduous. Are there any other portable light sources that can be used to brighten the place up?

Incidentally, I did check to see if there was a page on the site for point light-sources, but I couldn't find one. I might have to go delving into the Creation Kit later and see if I can find anything else. I already found a few light sources when I was looking for giant Blackreach mushrooms to distribute about my home (so it can be seen clearly from a distance, mostly)... so now it is surrounded by weird blue and purple glowy lights. ~ SotiCoto (talk) 22:51, 23 February 2013 (GMT)

As far as I know, the only recurring light sources are torches, the Blackreach mushrooms, standart Glowing Mushrooms and the magical lights in the College of Winterhold. I guess you could consider the Eye of Magnus and the Augur of Dunlain light sources, but they're unique. There are also the moving lights in Yngol Barrow but they're scripted so it might not be a good idea. Elakyn (talk) 13:02, 24 February 2013 (GMT)
If I'm not mistaken I found one little dish with candles on it in the bard college, lit and portable. I've put it in breeze home. Rare item though. — Unsigned comment by 213.122.128.7 (talk) on 10 December 2014
Rare indeed, with only 42 "Glazed Candles" in the entire game. Most are somewhere in Solitude (Bards College and Radiant Raiment have 19 between them), but there are a few scattered around in other places as well. Robin Hood  (talk) 14:39, 10 December 2014 (GMT)

Crafting clothes/dolls?[edit]

One of the game screens stated 'You can find, make, or buy a variety of gifts for your children, including toys, clothing, and sweets'. You can make sweets, but does that mean you can somehow make dolls and clothes? I didn't find that myself in game, but who knows whether it's possible... or just the loading screen is not to specific. --Mr.Killjoy (talk) 00:42, 17 March 2013 (GMT)

I just looked through all the recipes, only sweets have recipes. The loading screen just isn't specific. Jeancey (talk) 01:04, 17 March 2013 (GMT)

Dwemer dishes and other non-smeltable dwarven scraps[edit]

Currently the dwemer dishes are listed here, while cogs, gears, gyros, levers, scrap metal and small levers are listed on Skyrim:Ores and Ingots despite not being smeltable. Is there some logic to keeping them apart? --Morrolan (talk) 14:16, 1 September 2013 (GMT)

Seems like a case of "6 one way, half a dozen another". You could easily categorize Dwemer dishes with other dishware or other Dwemer items, the original authors of the articles just chose dishware. If I were to choose, I'd probably put them with other Dwemer items, just because of the smeltable/non-smeltable question. --Xyzzy Talk 14:42, 1 September 2013 (GMT)

Michaela's Flagon - moved from article[edit]

No NPC named Michaela exists ingame.

I'm moving this here because it possibly warrants more research. I checked CSList and the record for Michaela's Flagon includes the EditorID of "MS14FlagonA", which leads me to believe that this item was at one time related to the quest Laid to Rest, which has an ID of MS14 and takes place in the same town. Now here comes the speculation: there used to be an NPC named "Michaela" that was involved with this quest, but she was removed during development, but they missed her flagon, or left it in the game just to mess with us. Unfortunately, a search of "Michaela" on CSList only returns her flagon. If any of this can be verified, I would support some kind of note in the article about it, but just saying that there is no Michaela in the game is not, IMO, relevant. --Xyzzy Talk 19:22, 14 October 2013 (GMT)

Sawn Log[edit]

The sawn log in here shows a picture of a pair of elven boots instead. I'd change it myself, but I don't know how to do so. Also, I looked at the Sawn Log page, and it doesn't have a picture formatted like the ones in this article. Manu (talk) 12:06, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

The elven boots are correct in the sense that if you were actually able to drop a sawn log on the ground from your inventory, you would see a pair of elven boots. Since you can never drop sawn logs on the ground, however, the model for them is irrelevant. This sort of thing often occurs when items are copied from other items and then modified, or items like this that aren't available by normal means in the game. Soul Tomato[edit]

Excuse me, but can someone please add the Soul Tomato item added by the Saints & Seducers creation club. Thank you. -- Werewolfvampire (talk) 02:10, 4 April 2020 (GMT)
