Incorrect Instructions[edit]
In the Skills section, an entry says this:
...Once you have made all sales, save the game. Quit the game and reload. The merchants stock will have respawned...
To my knowledge, this is incorrect; my understanding was that you had to save, aggro the merchant, then reload for their stock to respawn. I just want to make sure I'm not missing any exceptions before I change it.--VɅƝØȠƊØΓƑ ʂƥξαƙ 00:52, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- There are two roughly similar exploits, the aggro one, and the other is where you save, quit, and load. This second one doesn't always seem to work in my experience, and is much more tedious as you have to quit the game before reloading. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:01, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
New armor duplication glitch?[edit]
I've checked through the entire archives, but I can't seem to find anyone else having this particular glitch, so here goes. I forged and enchanted myself a full set of Dragonplate Armor that I didn't plan on wearing yet. I tried to put it on the upstairs mannequin in Lakeview Manor (the mannequin had had nothing equipped previously). I could store the helm and gauntlets just fine, but for some reason the body armor and boots wouldn't stay in the mannequin's inventory; they automatically transferred themselves back to mine. Eventually I gave up and stored all four pieces of armor elsewhere. Then, after traveling in and out of Lakeview Manor a few times, I was suddenly too overburdened to move despite the fact that I hadn't picked anything up. When I checked my inventory, I had four sets of unenchanted Dragonplate body armor and boots sitting there. After restarting the game, I stopped getting a new pair of boots every time I reentered the manor, but I'm still getting a new set of body armor. (This only works when I enter the manor from outside, through either the main entrance or a second-story door; it doesn't work when I come back from the cellar.) I play on a PC and use the Unofficial Patch. --Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 17:30, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
NPCs Not Moving[edit]
Sometimes certain NPCs will stop moving for no discernible reason.
One of my characters entered Riverwood and found Alvor the blacksmith, his wife Sigrid, and their daughter Dorthe standing unmoving in a line in the street in front of their house. They remained silent instead of saying their usual greetings when I came in range, though they would respond appropriately when I talked to them. I tried bumping against them to get them moving, but none of them would budge. I was able to push them while mounted on a horse, so I pushed Alvor onto his blacksmithing platform, and he regained his merchant dialogue option. I pushed Sigrid and Dorthe onto their front porch and got them inside their house by talking to them and entering the house before they finished replying. None of them has moved since.
A different character of mine entered Riverwood one day and found Dorthe and Frodnar displaying similar behavior. Dorthe was standing just past the campsite established by the Whiterun guards and Frodnar was standing in the street betwwen Alvor's house and the inn. Some weeks later, I exited Cragslane Cavern, fast-travelled to the same site to bring back my free horse from Riften stables, and the horse didn't start to wander off. It also wouldn't walk when I mounted it, but I could fast-travel while on its back. Later, I was in Whiterun city in the morning when people started emerging from their houses and going about their daily routines. When Eorlund didn't show up at the Skyforge and Carlotta, Fralia, and Anoriath didn't show up at their stalls, I went looking for them. Eorlund and Fralia were standing just outside their door unmoving. So were Carlotta and Mila at their house. I forgot to check on Anoriath, but I'm sure he was by one of The Drunken Huntsman's doors. This character had not talked to Fralia yet, and whenever I got close enough, Fralia would say her quest-related lines about how she can't stop thinking of her son Thorald and how the Battle-Borns are lying about him. I also noticed that Eorlund and Carlotta, who were standing behind Fralia and Mila respectively, seemed to be crowded by this proximity and were actually being pushed up into the air. Apparently because Fralia and Mila wouldn't budge even after Eorlund and Carlotta spawned in nearly the same spots, making Eorlund and Carlotta rise up into the air was how the system dealt with unmoving people standing in the way. At this point, I remembered the horse not moving earlier and Dorthe and Frodnar standing unmoving in the streets of Riverwood, and it finally dawned on me that these glitches I was having with this character of unmoving NPCs could well be related.
The glitches from the two different characters should not be related because they are on different accounts. This is on Playstation 4 Special Edition with no mods ever installed.
Surely I'm not the only one to have something like this happen.24.159.122.98 06:06, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
- This is the first I've heard of this. If both characters are on the same PS4 then it could be a corruption within the installed data. Perhaps more reports will appear after the first report, but for now, if you delete your installed data and then reinstall it, it may fix this. - I've had this happen with my adopted children before - one will continue their regular sandbox routine, while one stays in one spot in the house at all times. The stuck one will still have the usual dialogue options, but won't move even if I tell them to do their chores or go to bed (though I can move them by bumping into them). In at least one instance, moving house fixed it, but more often they just get stuck somewhere in the new house.--Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 16:29, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
Does anyone think it is worth mentioning the secret chest under the sky-forge, and how to get to it? --PortableGecko81 (talk) 13:41, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
- Not under this topic; this is about an NPC glitch. Besides, I don't think the secret chest qualifies as a glitch, period.--Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 16:29, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
Ice Spikes stuck on my body.[edit]
So after attacking an NPC, I got some ice spikes on me that won't disappear. Whenever I do something like in kill cam, it shows the ice spikes still on me. I tried to rid of em' to no avail. I'm on the Switch. I want to fix it, as it is an eyesore to see. White Lightning (talk) 21:17, 29 October 2019 (GMT)
- The Ice Spikes persisting is well documented, but they do eventually vanish. Are yours staying indefinitely? --Xyzzy Talk 15:03, 2 November 2019 (GMT)
Overturned Carriage Fling Glitch?[edit]
Not sure of this is stated elsewhere. Remove this if so.
There's a Horse Carriage on it's side at the side of the road near Dragon Mound Internal ID 722 according to the UESP Map.
Running up to this Carriage and making contact with the underside transports the player character a decent distance away from the carriage and into the air to a height that will do major fall damage, where you instantly drop.
This was found running Skyrim SE on PC. Can this be confirmed across other platforms, and if confirmed, added to Glitches: Other.

- This seems to be an example of the generic physics-related glitches, no need to give it an extra mention -- SarthesArai Talk 20:37, 10 February 2020 (GMT)
Infinite sprint with torch is possible on PC and PS as well[edit]
"Tapping the sprint button once while moving forward, with a torch equipped and weapon sheathed, will allow you to sprint indefinitely. The stamina bar still decreases, but you will not stop sprinting when it is empty."
This glitch has the Xbox icon, but I know for a fact that it can be done on PS and PC as well. Tested with Special Edition, on PC and PS4. No mods or creations. Jyggorath (talk) 13:52, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
Phrase skipping glitch[edit]
Hi, do you know the audio glitch where someone who says something without being in an active dialogue with yourself (e.g. if you walk by a guard he says something to you) is sort of skipping one word, e.g. he says "an arrow - my knee" so that the word "into" is skipped? Does anyone know how to fix that? It never happens when you're actively involved in a dialogue with someone, it might only happen if you walk by someone or hear a conversation or when someone you fight says something. 213.162.81.52 18:18, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
The issue is described here but apparently I have already the newest drivers installed (when I checked). Isn't there another solution? Whatever, it should be listed among the glitches and a solution to it. 213.142.96.25 06:50, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- I've never heard of this issue. Feel free to add it to the page as a known glitch. —Legoless (talk) 09:09, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Petty soul gem trick[edit]
I've just checked. It perfectly works with any gem/soul combination in my case, except for black gems + black souls. Black gems with white souls work fine. Should information be updated? Current wording implies that size of a gem is a requirement. lerarosalene (talk) 09:57, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, by all means, please update the page with the new info. – Robin Hood (talk) 15:58, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
Incorrect Info Concerning Stolen Tags[edit]
The Equipment section lists two methods to remove stolen tags. One is to plant the item on an NPC using pickpocket, and then kill the NPC and retrieve the item. The second is to place the item in a container and have a follower collect it. I have tested both of these methods. Neither one worked. If either of these methods ever worked, I suspect they were patched out of the game a long time ago. Can anyone confirm? Valeria (talk) 02:22, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
