Ignatius Galenus

Ignatius Galenus is an Imperial scholar who can be encountered around Galen, he will be accompanied by his bodyguard Eyfi. Igantius is currently studying Druidic architecture.

"You're not paying me for conversation."

As you approach them, you may hear Ignatius speak to Eyfi:

Ignatius Galenus: "Ah Eyfi, isn't this place wondrous? I am positively enchanted by the primitive styles of the architecture. What could it all mean?"

Eyfi: "You're not paying me for conversation. No amount of coin would be enough to respond to your mindless ranting."

Speaking with Ignatius after this:

"Ah, here I thought I so expertly captured the local culture as to render me invisible. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. You must have recognized my dashing smile from the tomes I've penned. Ignatius Galenus, famed scholar. Charmed, I'm sure."

What is it you are doing here?

"It is my duty as a scholar to transcribe the wilds of this forbidden island so the rest of Tamriel may imagine its savageries from the comfort of their studies. It has bested me once before, but by the Divines I won't fail again."

What happened last time?

"A simple misunderstanding between myself and the local druids. They mistook my gestures for rudeness and, well— we shouldn't dwell on the past. I'm sure all has been forgiven by now. Probably."

Is that why you've brought a bodyguard?

"Eyfi? Protect me? Preposterous! No no, she's here to assist with menial tasks that could otherwise impede my research. Speaking of which, I must be off soon. This has been a lovely reprieve, but there is much left to record!"

"Right. All the best to you. Eyfi, my loyal companion, on your feet. Time to continue on our journey of exploration!"

Just a second. I need to speak with Eyfi.

"Very well, but don't dawdle too much. There's scholarly pursuits to be done!"

Once you bid farewell to Ignatius, he will urge his bodyguard to come along:

Ignatius Galenus: "Come Eyfi, there's no time to dawdle, we've much to research! And to think you're privy to it all as my assistant, how lucky you are."

Eyfi: "I'm not here for you. I'm here to get away from my homeland. My steadfast sense of honor is the only thing that's keeping me by your side, staying your final meeting with the Divines."
