Caula Allectus

Caula Allectus is an Imperial commoner residing in the southeast corner of the Imperial City Temple District. She lives with her husband, Amantius Allectus, whose journal is the target of the Thieves Guild quest, May the Best Thief Win.

Caula's life revolves very much around prayer. After waking up at 6am every day, she eats a two-hour breakfast. At this point, her routine will depend on the day of the week:

  • Morndas and Middas: She first heads to the Temple of the One for the delay service until 12pm. After wandering around just outside the door for an hour, she heads back home at 1pm.
  • Tirdas and Turdas: Instead of praying, she will now head simply wander around the Temple District for two hours, before moving to the Market District at 1pm. At 4pm she heads back home.
  • Fredas: As with the previous day, she will start off by wandering around the Temple District, though this time her strolling will be until 1pm. After a quick one-hour break back at home, she will then attend services at the Temple from 2pm until 6pm.
  • Loredas: As the first day of the weekend, she stays at home until 2pm, at which point she will head off to Green Emperor Way for an afternoon stroll. She will head back home at 5pm.
  • Sundas: Fittingly, she will first head to the Temple for prayers until 12pm, when she returns home. At 2pm she will head back out again for a walk around Green Emperor Way until 5pm.

Regardless of the day of the week, once she returns home from her activities she will loiter around until 6pm, when she eats a two-hour meal. From 8pm she will then relax at home until her bedtime at midnight.

Her piousness means that her prayers are not reserved solely for the Imperial City. At midnight on the 24th of each month, Caulia starts her long journey towards Leyawiin. She crosses the Talos Bridge, turns south on the Red Ring Road, and takes the Green Road all the way to her destination. After 25 hours of traveling, she arrives in Leyawiin around 1am on the 25th and book herself in at the Five Claws Lodge. After wandering around all night, she will finally head to the Chapel of Zenithar at 9am. She will remain there until 11pm on the 27th, when she makes her way back home.

Caula wears a set of middle class clothing: a burgundy linen shirt, burgundy linens and a pair of thick cowhide shoes. She carries her house key and a small amount of gold.

Dialogue[edit]

Caula is evidently dedicated to her husband. As long as the quest May the Best Thief Win hasn't reached stage 20, Caula will greet you with

"My poor husband is getting no sleep. He's awake all night taking care of those stupid plants."

After this point, she will sometimes (20% chance) use the greeting:

"I'm Caula Allectus. My job is making sure my husband Amantius doesn't go out with his clothes on backwards. It's cute, really. Such a genius, and can't find his own socks. It's a full-time job keeping him in matching outfits."
Imperial City
"I find things to do. I manage the house, make sure Amantius doesn't starve or run out of ink."

Notes[edit]

  • Caula was also intended to play a role in the unfinished Imperial Express quest: at midday on the 7th of each month, as long as Emfrid is still alive, she will head to the Black Horse Courier and stay there for a brief moment before resuming her usual schedule.
