Yagrum Bagarn is the last known living Dwemer. Bloated and sick with Corprus disease, he was under the care of the ancient Telvanni wizard Divayth Fyr, in Tel Fyr.[1]

Biography[edit]

Early History[edit]

In Yagrum's prime, he was considered a wise scholar.[UOL 1] Before the disappearance of the Dwarves, Bagarn was a Master Crafter in the service of the chief Tonal Architect, Lord Kagrenac.[2] Yagrum survived the disappearance because he was in another dimension at the time, an undescribed "Outer Realm". Yagrum Bagarn would later return to Tamriel, and has been looking for his people ever since with no success.[2]

Yagrum is mentioned by Mannimarco in the book Where Were You ... Dragon Broke, as one of the people that experienced the Middle Dawn, a phenomenon where linear time broke and became non-linear. As to the question where Yagrum himself was when this event happened, Mannimarco stated "The Last Dwarf would talk, if they would let him".[3]

At one point, Yagrum befriended Divayth Fyr. At Fyr's behest, Yagrum Bagarn wrote a book[4]:241 from the notes that he gathered over the centuries, listing artifacts such as Chrysamere, the Bow of Shadows, and the Staff of Hasedoki among various items of "unimaginable significance".[5] By the Interregnum, copies of this book listing a total of thirty artifacts circulated throughout Tamriel, providing some general information on the artifacts to its readers. At this point of time, it went under the name Tamrielic Artifacts.[6]

Third Era[edit]

As Yagrum learned of more artifacts, he catalogued them in his research and made revisions in his book. Three more artifacts, the Bloodworm Helm, the Daedric Crescent, and the Dragonbone Cuirass, were added to his catalogue of artifacts. The book itself went through various name changes, such as Famed Artifacts in Tamriel,[7] and what finally stuck was the name Tamrielic Lore.[5][8]

Yagrum Bargarn would at one point in time contract Corprus, causing him to fall into a state of insanity. Divayth Fyr took him in and cured much of his dementia, as well as trying out various harmless spells and potions to cure him, though none of them worked.[2] He also assisted Fyr in effectively curing the Nerevarine of their Corprus during The Blight crisis in 3E 427.[9] Divayth noted that while Yagrum still showed signs of corprus, his memory seems to slowly be coming back from time to time.[UOL 1] By 4E 201, reports of Bagarn's survival were known by mages across the continent.[10]

Notes[edit]

  • The mage Barilzar is quoted as saying "Good help is as rare as the legendary Last Dwemer, but a clockwork is only as strong as its weakest cog." circa 2E 582,[11] though it is unknown if he was aware of Bagarn's existence.
  • Similarly in the Meet the Character - Sun-in-Shadow, Yagrum is referenced in the text by the famed Telvanni Therana, stating "These other mages bore me. According to my spies, Saduro does nothing but tinker away in Magister Otheri's laboratory, like some blight-faced, maladjusted Dwarf. And Teris Saryon? Two-hundred years old and still suckling at her uncle Gothren's teat. Pathetic."
  • nb1This quote is one of the Legends Loading Tips. It is an excerpt from the UOL text Sotha Sil's Last Words:
    • Sotha Sil: "You wonder where the Dwemer have gone? Perhaps better to wonder why one remains. Even gods dislike the absolute, for it stinks of something larger than themselves."
