Stone Magic is an arcane art focused on control of the stone.[1] It should not be confused with Geomancy,[2] also known as Earth Magic.[3]
Usage[edit]
Atronachs and Golems[edit]
Elemental Daedra like Stone Atronachs are composed of stone,[4][5] as are certain artificially created golems. This includes Direnni Stone Golems,[6] and Ayleid animated statues known as Ayleid Guardians or Stone Watchers.[7][8] Gargoyles, used by both vampires and wizards from various civilizations such as the Bretons, Yokudans, Imperials, Ayleids, and Khajiit, are also stone constructs.[9] Other examples included the Gray Host's Stone Husks and the Argonians' Voskrona Guardians.[10][11]

Argonians of Xit-Xaht tribe were known for their Stoneshapers and Root-Masons who wielded stone magi. They used this ability in battle, launching stone-based barrages as part of their combat tactics.[13] The tribe's Hist, Tsono-Xuhil, was revered as the "Mother Root, Father Stone." It was called upon by the Tree-Minder Na-Kesh to bestow upon her the strength of both the root and the stone. Given Na-Kesh's deep connection to the Hist, it's possible that her invocation of Tsono-Xuhil could also be tied to Hist-magic.[14]
Mages Guild[edit]
The Mages Guild possessed some knowledge of stone-shaping. A mage was once asked to stone-shape the hair of the Mermaid of Anvil, which she refused to do.[15]
Orc[edit]
The Chief Urzikh of Mor Khazgur was known for her expertise in alchemy.[16] One of her creations, a stone-dissolving concoction, was referred to as "stone magic".[17]
Yokudan[edit]
The Hiradirge were a faction of rogue Ansei and stone magic experts who were theorized to have played a role in the sinking of Yokuda, at least according to certain theories regarding the continent's destruction after their defeat in battle in 1E 792.[1][UOL 1] However, other theories existed as well. Memory Stones also trace their origin to Yokuda, but the exact link between them and the Hiradirge remains unclear, aside from their mention in the same texts.[1][UOL 2]
