Primate Ilav Dralgoner was a priest of Akatosh,[1][2] and a member of the Order of the Hour. He was also a skilled spellcaster, adept at Restoration, capable of sensing time-related anomalies and could bestow blessings specifically intended to combat such temporal disturbances.[2]
History[edit]
Little is known about Ilav's past. At some point he became a priest of Akatosh, and eventually became the Primate of the Chapel of Kvatch.[3][4] As a Primate, his duties extended to overseeing the affairs of his chapel and representing it in the Council of the Nine.[5] He could also be addressed with the honorific "His Eminence".[6] Long before 3E 427, he served as one of Caius Cosades' mentors in Kvatch. Known for his patience, he was a steady and thoughtful teacher.[UOL 1]
Ilav was among the few who survived the destruction of Kvatch during the Oblivion Crisis in 3E 433. Although he escaped with his life, the chapel he served in, its congregation, and many of his close friends died. This experience left him grappling with a deep crisis of faith.[1] By that time he was an elderly man.[7] Caius expressed concern about Ilav's condition following the fall of Kvatch.[UOL 1]
He came to believe that the Divines were powerless to protect the people, especially as more individuals began to mysteriously vanish in the Kvatch region. He foresaw a looming danger, one so grave that even the gods should fear it.[2][7]
The source of this threat was Corelian, a lich who had stolen an Elder Scroll from the Order of the Hour in a desperate attempt to travel back in time and prevent their own transformation into undeath. Haunted by the inevitable descent into madness that lichdom brings, Corelian hoped to avert this fate by altering the past.[8] but Corelian's interference with the timeline caused a rupture, a Time Wound deep within the ruins of Beldaburo.[2][9][10]
Ilav, as a member of the Order of the Hour, having discovered this disturbance, entrusted the Hero of Kvatch with retrieving the stolen Elder Scroll before the Wound could fully destabilize reality. With their blessing, the Hero breached the magical barrier surrounding the Wound, defeated Corelian, and restored the natural flow of Time as governed by Akatosh.[2][9][10] In gratitude and recognition of the Hero's actions, Ilav, now convinced that time was indeed healed bestowed upon them the title of Paladin of the Hour and rewarded them with weapons and armors of the Order.[2]
