No problem, I'm glad to help out (I've learned a lot from reading the site, and enjoy the opportunity to give back). One thing I'm wondering is how soon you think it'd be appropriate for me to apply for Patroller status, as that's the primary way I think I can be useful to the site (and is what I'm trying to do anyhow). I saw that the one nominee to be rejected so far was spoken against for having only been around for four days, and I'd rather not have that as a mark against me as well, so, at this point, I'm planning on remaining an unofficial Patroller for the forseeable future. Quality of edits, evidence that you've already been helping with patrolling, and evidence that you understand wiki formatting count in addition to length of time spent editing, and you've already covered all of those bases. But probably a couple of weeks experience would be best to give everyone a chance to know you.

One tip you might want to take advantage of in the meantime (if you haven't been already) is that any editor (not just patrollers) can click on the "hide patrolled edits" option on the recent changes page. That lets you basically see what's still on the patroller's todo list and is especially helpful for locating some of the stuff that's more than a few hours old. Although the older edits are also frequently the ones that are less straightforward (trickier questions, rewriting instead of just deleting required, etc.), so don't be scared off if you don't know what to do with many of them ;) --Nephele^Talk 16:42, 24 May 2007 (EDT)

Warning Spammers

Hey there! Just so you know, it is not necessary to warn spammers, since they always get blocked on the first offense. It's usually a bot anyway, so there's a good chance nobody will ever see the warning. Thanks for all your help though, this morning is insane! --Eshe 11:10, 10 September 2007 (EDT)

I know, but I felt I had to do something. Others seemed to be on top of reverting the edits quickly, but it didn't seem there was anyone around with blocking authority; I also checked the IRC channel, but the regulars weren't there. DisplacedAvenger 11:15, 10 September 2007 (EDT)

On top of that, one of the clues I look for in quickly identifying spammers is a red "Talk" link on the Recent Changes page. Adding a warning makes the link blue, and it blends in with the rest. No big deal, just for future reference, a warning is not necessary. Just clearly indicate that it's spam in the edit summary for your revert, and we'll usually see it.
