Rosentia Gallenus
Rosentia Gallenus

Rosentia Gallenus is an Imperial commoner living in Leyawiin who is having some trouble with a certain Daedric artifact she recently purchased. Since she bought it, she's been plagued by a bunch of scamps who won't go away.

Before someone helps her by getting rid of the scamps, Rosentia will stay secluded in her house, wandering aimlessly around the ground floor and waiting for someone to come to her aid. She takes a single break at 8am to have a brief breakfast during two hours.

However, once she is rid of the staff, she will resume her typical schedule. She will sleep on the second floor from 12am to 6am every day. She starts the day by strolling around her house for two hours before heading to the dining area at 8am to have her breakfast. At 11am, provided it isn't raining, Rosentia will head outside to roam around the streets of Leyawiin, occasionally talking to the other townsfolk. She will return to her house at 7pm to have her dinner in the dining area until 10pm. At that time, Rosentia will find a good place where she can sit down to read her copy of The Book of Daedra until her bedtime at midnight.

Rosentia's attire consists of a set of upper-class clothing, consisting of a black & burgundy outfit and a pair of gold trimmed shoes. She also carries her copy of The Book of Daedra, the key to her house and a leveled amount of gold.

Dialogue[edit]

On the topic of Leyawiin, she will tell you about her reputation as a collector around the town:

"Everyone in town knows about my hobby... collecting unusual examples of the arcane crafts. My husband left me quite comfortable, bless his cinders. What will I do with my collection of curiosities when I go? Donate them to the Castle, of course. "

Quest-Related Events[edit]

The first time you meet her, she will immediately express her unhappiness about the situation she is living with, without even introducing herself:

"Please! Help me!" (Hello)
"These stupid scamps are driving me crazy!"
Umm, can't help you, sorry.
"Fine... just get out... I can take care of myself!"

Leaving:

"Whatever am I to do?" (ever hear?)
"If you change your mind, I'm certainly not going anywhere."

Should you return, she will plead:

"Whatever you do... don't leave me alone with these things!" (Hello)
"I'm at my wit's end! I beg you to help me!"
I can help if you wish.
"Oh thank you! I had a feeling buying that Daedric staff would be trouble. Now I'm paying for it with more than just some gold."

If you inquire about the mysterious artifact, she will explain to you in detail how she acquired it:

Daedric Staff
"A few weeks ago, a spellsword was passing through Leyawiin and heard that I like to buy curiosities. He wanted to sell the staff you see me carrying. I eagerly bought it, knowing the value of Daedric relics. In fact, I was a bit suspicious when he sold it so cheap. His loss, my gain I figured. After examining it for a bit I noticed a small word carved on it in runes. Using a book from my library, I translated it. The word was nonsense. However, when I spoke it and held the staff, four scamps suddenly appeared! I thought I was done for! Strangely, they all just stood there. It didn't take long before I realized they were following me! I couldn't be seen in town with scamps following, so I decided to discard the staff. I can't explain it, but somehow I can't compel myself to actually let it go. This staff is obviously cursed! Now I'm stuck with it!"
So, where do I fit in?
"I need you to get over to the Mages Guild and talk to a good friend of mine, Alvis Uvenim [sic]. She's the only one in town that I trust. I was able to get a message to her earlier, but I've yet to get a reply. If I go, then the scamps will follow and my secret will be revealed to all."

Sends you off with:

"Alves is a practiced researcher... she's sure to have some good information for you."

Speaking to he again will have her implore:

"Damn it, now they're into my pantry!" (Hello)
"Please, don't dawdle here... get to the Mages Guild! Hurry!"
Daedric Staff
"Alves should be able to help rid me of this staff. We play cards at the Three Sisters often and are old friends. Seek her advice!"
Scamps
"The beastly little creatures are nasty, smelly, noisy and wrecking my beautiful house! I must be rid of them! I can't let people know I have scamps in here, or they'll think I've taken to Daedra worship. Try explaining that to the town guard."

Alves:

"Poor Rosentia, she's been trapped in her house for days."
Daedric Staff
"Doing a bit of digging, I'm afraid Rosentia's been stuck with the Staff of the Everscamp. Nasty bit of 'fun' by Sheogorath, I'd say. The only way she can be rid of it is if someone willingly accepts it. It can't be discarded in any other manner."

Greeting 30:

"These scamps are making my home smell like a barn." (Hello)
"I was afraid you wouldn't come back."
Scamps
"How am I ever going to get scamp smell out of my fine linens?"
Daedric Staff
"Oh please, I beg you! Take this staff to Darkfathom Cave and get rid of it and the scamps forever! I can't fight, and who knows what's guarding the shrine? Plus, do you know how dirty caves are? It'll ruin anything I wear! Do this for me, and I'll reward you with another one of my curios I picked up a few years ago... a valuable ring. Are you ready?"
Not just yet, let me prepare.
"I understand. No need to jump headlong into a dangerous situation. But do hurry. I can only keep it a secret for so long."

Exiting:

"Please, consider my proposal. The reward will be worth the risk."

Greeting Not Ready =1

"I hope you've made the necessary preparations." (Hello)
"Are you ready to accept the staff?"
Very well, I'm ready. I accept.
"Here's the staff. As soon as you leave, the scamps will thankfully follow. Do be careful, I don't wish your death on my hands as well."

Greeting 40:

"Darkfathom Cave awaits you." (Hello)
"I can't thank you enough for doing this for me."
Daedric Staff
"I'm sorry I ever laid eyes on that thing."

Leaving:

"Darkfathom Cave isn't that far from here, but the route may be treacherous. Be careful, and journey safe."

Greeting 50:

"I see you haven't yet been able to drop the staff in Darkfathom Cave." (Hello)
"You must be rid of the staff, or the scamps will follow you around forever!"
"My prayers go with you." (Goodbye)

Greeting 70:

"You've done it!" (Hello)
"I don't see any scamps, or the staff!"

If leave convo now:

"Aren't you forgetting to tell me something?"

Indeed:

Daedric Staff
"As promised, here's the ring. I bought it from a shop in the Imperial City many years ago for an ex-lover of mine."
Scamps
"I'm still having the floors scrubbed. What do those things eat anyway? Yuck."

Greeting post-quest:

"I'm feeling much better now that the house is free of those ugly creatures." (Hello)
"So nice of you to drop by again and see me."
"Farewell, and may you find your way home safely each night to a warm fire." (Goodbye)

Rumors[edit]

The people of Leyawiin seem to have noticed the recent events concerning Rosentia, as they will occasionally say:

"Have you been near Rosentia Gallenus' house recently? Smells horrible... like she left some meat out to spoil"
"I was walking past Rosentia Gallenus' home the other day, and I heard these strange animal noises or something from inside... very odd"

Speaking to them about her will have them expand:

Rosentia Gallenus
"Every time I pass by that woman's house, I hear odd animal noises and smell a foul odor. Maybe she's caring for some sick pet or something. Whatever it is, she should clean up her act. It's surprising that a wealthy woman like that would let her property fall into such disarray."

However, once you have helped her to get rid of the scamps, the townsfolk will also comment on it:

"I guess Rosentia Gallenus got rid of whatever barnyard animals she was keeping inside her house. Smells much better now."

Bugs[edit]

  • Even after completion of her related quest, Rosentia will remain permanently essential.
  • Her key is called "Gallenus Rosentia's Key" instead of using her correct name.
  • She is intended to sleep from 12am to 8am during Whom Gods Annoy, but her sleep package keeps her on the ground floor, where there are no beds.
