The Fiery Horror

The Fiery Horror is a unique Ghost Guardian found in Stendarr's Tower at Ebon Tower in Old Ebonheart. It is the spirit of Indoril Urvyn, one of the last rulers of Khalaan before the mass suicide after the Armistice was signed. It has awoken due to the presence of Sixth House ash statues in Old Ebonheart. It can be laid to rest either by defeating and soul trapping it, or collecting the 5 ash statues within Old Ebonheart and banning the sale of the statues.

Dialogue[edit]

  • Greetings:
(Before starting the quest):
"Khalaan will never be yours, n'wah! Everything shall burn!"
(If you are a member of House Indoril and you are a Dark Elf):
"Join me, kinsman. Burn with me. Burn with lost Khalaan."
(After starting the quest):
"You. There is something strange about you. An echo, an essence -- I do not understand it, but you are marked somehow. A shadow of your former life, perhaps, or some contact you have made with someone. Curious. Why have you interrupted my work?"
  • Leave this place, foul spirit!:
"I care not for your threats. Burn, mortal!" Goodbye (It attacks you)
  • Who are you?:
"In life, born to the name Urvyn, I became the last Indoril Moraelyn to rule Khalaan. After the Armistice was signed, I killed myself rather than bend my neck to the yoke of the Imperials."
  • You lost the war, foul spirit! Begone from this place!: (See 'I care not...' response above)
  • The Armistice? That was four hundred years ago. Why have you awakened?:
"We Indoril were the gatekeepers of the Thirr. As such, it was our duty to contain contamination and prevent corruption from spreading into the heart of Resdayn. But the current gatekeepers of Ebonheart are not as assiduous in their duty. They do not understand what must be done and cannot contain the threat to the rest of the province. A dark corruption has spread through the land, beginning in Vvardenfell, and is now worming its way through the rest of the land."
  • The only contamination here is you. Leave this tower, specter, before you are cast out.: (See 'I care not...' response above)
  • Corruption, you say? In what form?:
"Dark idols. They bring fevered dreams and infect the minds of many. Slay the corrupted souls who bought them and bring the idols to me."
  • Very well. I will do as you have asked.:
"Your words please me. Now leave and do as you have promised, or stay and be burned to ash!" Goodbye
  • Kill them? Perhaps there is another way.:
"Perhaps. We shall see. Now leave and do as you have promised, or stay and perish in flames!" Goodbye
  • Your work? What is your purpose here?: (See 'We Indoril were the gatekeepers...' response above)
"So, once more you come. Again I ask, why have you interrupted my work?" (See identical choices above)
"Ah, you have returned. Have you dammed the source of the corruption? Do you have the dark idols?"
  • Yes, here are the statues that were sold, and I've made sure no more will be sold in the city.:
"You have not yet gathered all the idols that have infiltrated the city. Do not neglect the dark influence these statues spread. Go now. Seek out the idols and return here with them before their effects grow stronger."
(If you have gathered all the ash statues but haven't banned them or killed anyone):
"You have not yet gathered all the idols that have infiltrated the city. Do not neglect the dark influence these statues spread. Go now. Seek out the idols and return here with them before their effects grow stronger."
(If you have gathered all the ash statues and killed either Cirtiel or Haladroth):
"Yes, I see that you have taken steps to stem the dark intrusion by quarantining the idols that were polluting their possessors. But it is not enough. There is a source that supplies the pollutants. Return to me when you have staunched the flow of these idols into the city." (Removed 5 Old Ebonheart Ash Statues from your inventory, and you receive Indoril Ulyn's Signet Ring)
(If you have gathered all the ash statues and killed Cirtiel and Haladroth or banned the sale of ash statues):
"Well done. You have gathered the sources of corruption that have entered the city and stopped those who would supply this poison. My anger is satiated for now. Here, mortal, take my ring. I need it not beyond the veil of death. Farewell for now, but I will be watching." (Removed 5 Old Ebonheart Ash Statues from your inventory, and you receive Indoril Ulyn's Signet Ring)
  • I have the statues here, but others still sell them in the city.:
"You do not yet have in your possession all of the idols that are polluting the city. Find them first and then return to me."
(If you have gathered all the ash statues but haven't banned them or killed anyone):
"Yes, I see that you have gathered the foul idols, but you have not yet cut off the source of the infestation. Return to me when you have staunched the flow of these idols into the city."
(If you have gathered all the ash statues and killed either Cirtiel or Haladroth):
"Yes, I see that you have gathered the foul idols, and you have depurated a source of corruption. But it is not enough. There is another source remaining. Return to me when you have staunched the flow of these idols into the city."
(If you have gathered all the ash statues and killed Cirtiel and Haladroth or banned the sale of ash statues):
"Ah, but you have done as I have requested.
  • No, I haven't finished the task you have given me.:
"Why do you dither, mortal? Make haste and gather the dark idols and bring them here. My patience is not infinite."
