Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

The Perfect Obsession[edit]

People in Gah Sadrith will tell you of an Altmer named Anirwen who has an obsession with the idea of a "perfect blade". Find Anirwen in his house on the east side of town and talk to him to find out more. It turns out he's quite fussy. He is looking for an Akaviri dai-katana made from ebony, that is lighter to swing than usual. He tells you that no other sword, not even a katana, could ever satisfy him.

Blade Hunt[edit]

Since Anirwen has had this sword as his monomania for years, it is unlikely you will simply stumble over it on your troubles, but if you ask around town you might find someone who might know something relevant. Unfortunately, he has his own problem that needs solving before he will help you.

Entrenched Views[edit]

It turns out that a blade matching Anirwen's specifications can be found in a chest in the Entrenched Shipwreck, a ship that sank northwest of the Sadas Plantation. The blade is named Goujian, and is not only immensely powerful in its own right, but has a constant effect Fortify Long Blade 25 pts enchantment.

The Most Deserving[edit]

Return to Anirwen with the blade. If you hand it over to him, he will offer to serve you for the rest of his life. As a follower, Anirwen is fairly powerful - especially with the new blade.

Alternatively, you can opt to keep the blade for yourself. If you are below level 15 or have fewer than ten reputation points, Anirwen will not accept your decision and you will be forced to kill him. If you are at least level 15 and have ten or more reputation points, he will reluctantly let you keep the blade, although since this option causes his disposition to drop by 50 points, he may attack you anyway. Or, of course, you could simply neglect to return to him.

10 Anirwen, an Altmer warrior of Gah Sadrith, told me of his desire to find a perfect sword, which would make him an even greater warrior then he is now. He pictures it as an ebony dai-katana, but lighter to swing. It must be swift, sharp and precise even in hands [sic] of one unskilled with a blade. I doubt such a sword exists, but if I find it and give it to him, he will pledge an oath to serve me until death severs our bond.
20 Finishes quest☑ I found an ebony dai-katana called Goujian which fulfilled almost all of Anirwen's dreams, but I have decided to keep it. Possibly out of respect to my reputation and skills Anirwen grudgingly allowed me to keep it.
