Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

The captain of the Age of Peace stands fuming in the cabin on his vessel, currently docked at Hlerynhul. Two of his crewmates have disappeared, and he wants them to return to the ship. Agree, and he'll give you Captain Lannus' Letter in the event that you find them drunk - as he suspects they may well be.

This comment is your first clue to check the local watering holes. Specifically, The Musty Mudcrab - which residents of the town will point you to with 50+ disposition. The inn is by the docks. Talk to the publican, Khazor gro-Bash. He's locked the two sailors into the room after a ruckus they caused. You'll need to either pay their room fee (20 gold) or have 75+ disposition with him to get him to unlock the door (although you can also pick it open).

With the door unlocked, speak to Dyus Rilian inside. You've a choice of paths here - you can either hand over Captain Lannus' letter of dismissal, or simply state that the captain requires the two back on the ship - overlooking their past behavior and keeping them employed.

The letter of dismissal[edit]

Handing the letter over to Dyus will produce an outraged response, and he will attack you. Reducing his health will cause him to surrender. You'll then need to inform Captain Lannus, who will hand over 50 gold and ask you to recruit two replacements - an able seaman and an experienced cook.

The able seaman is the trickier of the two. Certain individuals (such as Dithisi Andral, the alchemist) will point you out of town towards Mothran Plantation if asked. It's immediately south of town. Erns Alar is the one to speak to - an indiviudal with a dream of the open ocean. He'll agree to join the crew immediately.

For an experienced cook, check at The Musty Mudcrab. Those here will speak highly of the chef in the kitchen - Telrav Calvus. If you speak to him, you'll find that he's initially positive, before remembering Khazor gro-Bash at the bar. It's Khazor who requires convincing - raising his disposition over 75 will do the trick, although Khazor will require 100 gold in compensation. Once you've got the Orc's blessing, speak to Telrav again to send him on his way.

With both new hires now in place, speak to Vasesius Lannus in the ship's cabin once more for your final reward - 250 gold.

Keeping Dyus employed[edit]

If you choose to hold the letter back, Dyus will ask that you help him gather the items on his List of Provisions while he and Vantus Arria recover. He gives you six gold to accomplish this with. You need to obtain 5x Colovian Cheese, 7x Tanna, 3x Spool, 6x Paper and 2x Ash Yams. The cheese can be bought from Khazor at The Musty Mudcrab, the Ash Yams from the alchemist store, paper from the fine outfitter, Spool from the clothier, and Tanna from the Farmer and Laborer's Hall.

Once you've these items, return to Dyus. He'll take them from you, before asking that you report to the captain that the two had had to travel out to find a farm selling ash yams. He'll invite you to speak with him afterwards.

Captain Lannus will not believe your tale however. He'll reward you with a copy of The Origin of the Ash Yam in lieu of gold - although speaking to Dyus outside will garner you 35 gold as an additional reward. Vantus Arria, now below decks, will also chip in 20 gold if asked.

10Vasesius Lannus, captain of the Age of Peace in Hlerynhul, asked me to locate his crew members Dyus Rilian and Vantus Arria, whom he sent for provisions and has been waiting longer than expected. Lannus told me to pass on the order to return to the ship immediately, or hand over the captain's letter if the crew members appear to have been drinking.

30I handed Dyus the letter. The captain's words enraged him and he attacked me.
35I returned to the Age of Peace and gave Vasesius Lannus the news of his sailors. He has now tasked me with replacing the men he lost. The captain needs an able seaman, strong and willing to learn the ropes, and an experienced cook.
80It was clear that Dyus Rilian and Vantus Arria had been drinking. However, I agreed to help procure the provisions for their task. They promised they'd be sober enough by the time I return with the goods.
90I acquired all the items on the supplies list and gave them to Dyus. After I talk to Captain Lannus on the Age of Peace, I'm supposed to see Dyus aboard the ship for a reward.
