Quick Walkthrough

1. Speak to Reynant Alciente in Old Ebonheart's Barristers' Guild about business matter and in need of protection.
2. Talk to Stabby-Jak Merrus about Reynant Alciente.
3. Either:
   • Offer a bribe and either:
     • Accept the counteroffer (rewards 200 gold).
     • Refuse.
   • Persuade Stabby-Jak that Reynant has left town.
   • Inform Stabby-Jak of Reynant's location.
4. If you did not reveal Reynant's location, return to Reynant.

Detailed Walkthrough

Reynant Alciente at the Barristers' Guild wants you to convince Stabby-Jak Merrus on the ship known as Niben's Wind that he has left town for High Rock. You will need a disposition of 70+ with Stabby-Jak to have a chance of convincing him (or 50+ if you have the Change of Location Notice). Alternatively, tell Stabby-Jak Merrus where to find the lawyer for 200 gold. If you speak to Stabby-Jak and he doesn't believe you, you will have 24 hours to return to the Barrister's Guild and save Reynant. You will have 24 hours to report Stabby-Jak to a guard on Reynant's death.

Lastly, you can tell Stabby-Jak Merrus where to find the lawyer for 200 gold, then go talk to Reynant Alciente. Stabby-Jak Merrus will enter the room and attack Reynant. If you help Reynant deal with Stabby-Jak Merrus, you also get the access to his bounty-clearing services, getting the best of both worlds.

Notes

• If Reynant Alciente is alive at the end of the quest, he can help you clear your bounty for 400 gold, if your bounty is inferior to 5000 gold

He gave me a letter for Stabby-Jak and wants me to convince his client that he's moved out of town. I should look for Merrus in the docks, aboard the Niben's Wind.
15		I didn't tell Stabby-Jak Merrus where Reynant Alciente is, but he seemed unconvinced. I'd better speak with Reynant Alciente about what to do next.
20	Finishes quest	I told Stabby-Jak Merrus where Reynant Alciente is.
30		I convinced Stabby-Jak Merrus that Reynant Alciente has left town. Reynant Alciente now owes me a favor.
