why Skyrim means all of Skyrim and not just vanilla[edit]

All pages concerning any non-vanilla Skyrim content are quite libertarian in beginning with "Skyrim:", something which isn't done with e.g. Morrowind or Oblivion. There are no unicorns in vanilla Skyrim, therefore this article should be named "Creation Club:Unicorn" rather than "Skyrim:Unicorn". I don't see why Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn pages begin with "Skyrim:" either while Shivering Isles pages begin with "Shivering:" instead of "Oblivion:". Isn't that inconsistent? 212.186.15.63 14:27, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

This is something that the wiki as a whole has changed its thinking on over the years, which is why you see things done differently in Morrowind and Oblivion than you do in Skyrim. In point of fact, Dragonborn used to be separated out, but we merged it a few months back. The reason for this is that the Special Edition, particularly some of the Creation Club stuff, makes it harder to distinguish what used to be individual DLCs from one another. Knowing that they're guaranteed to have all of Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, some creations do things like having part of their story in Solstheim, then part on the mainland, etc. This blurs the lines significantly.
Beyond just that, though, we often found ourselves creating duplicate pages with essentially the same information across multiple namespaces. In the end, it just seemed more logical to merge everything into the same namespace and identify DLC and Creation-specific information by either a page icon at the top right, as this page has, or by putting superscripts in the text, both of which have been standard practice for a long time.
The final reason is that dividing things up is inherently subjective. Would you make this page Creation Club:Unicorn or Wild Horses:Unicorn? The latter would make for a stupidly small namespace, but even just Creation Club add-ons would be small, and would mix together a lot of separate things, the same as you're complaining is already a problem. In the end, putting everything in Skyrim space seems to be the best compromise for all these issues. Robin Hood(talk) 21:07, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
