Quest Reward?[edit]

what is the reward for this quest? — Unsigned comment by Jd17nt (talkcontribs) at 03:53 on 15 January 2012

I just completed this quest (xbox360) and got no reward. The dialogue implys I should be getting something but no notification is given and I can't see anything new in my inventory. 114.198.41.215 08:29, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
It's bugged (see main page). There's no reward and the journals aren't removed from inventory. Still happens under v1.4.21. Perko 11:29, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
I found still bugged v1.5.26 on 360. — Unsigned comment by 130.85.122.130 (talk) at 13:55 on 13 April 2012
Maybe someone with the CK can see what is going on. It might be related to a similar issue here, where a particular skill level needs to exceed a certain number before a reward is issued. Wolok gro-Barok 14:07, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
For no good reason that I can see, the line that's supposed to give the reward has been disabled. In theory, you were supposed to get an enchanted one-handed weapon. Robin Hoodtalk 19:46, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Bug still present in 1.6.90.0.6 on Xbox 360, but, hey, we have fighting from horseback... I guess that's more important than working quests, follower bugs, or a variety of other things Bethesda could be fixing instead of working on a DLC. *sigh* 96.54.251.129 15:07, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
Bug-fixing has to go through testers at some point, where DLC doesn't; it's not just what they're spending time and money on, it's that they don't have enough of the right people, either. 99.111.84.234 03:39, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Um.... Bethesda made well over half a billion dollars off Skyrim. If they don't have the right people, it's because they've chosen not to have them. We aren't talking about some indie house with three people on staff here. Robinwitch1 (talk) 13:03, 17 November 2013 (GMT)

Can so climb back[edit]

I had no particular difficulty climbing back up the spiral.75.80.42.181 23:35, 4 February 2012 (UTC)Rich Maine

Part way up there is an outcropping that can cause difficulty. This in in the down ramp, not the stairs up. Philbert 08:08, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Funny bug: one-handed, "savage strike" and ghosts...[edit]

... means you have a chance to decapitate them! Yes, decapitate _ghosts_. — Unsigned comment by 82.235.191.170 (talk) at 12:38 on 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Journals for non-TG characters[edit]

Suppose you pick up these four journals while not being a TG member. Can they be turned over to Vekel, or are you stuck with them? Evil-i (talk) 02:02, 12 October 2012 (GMT)

Here it states on the quest-page that Even though the quest is meant for Thieves Guild members, non-members can also receive the quest when you obtain one of the journals. The only way to end the quest and get rid of the journals is to return them to Vekel. This can be found in this section here. Regardless of whether you are a Thieves Guild member or not, returning the journals to him sometimes results in a bug where you are unable to return them to him (also stated in the Bugs section), but you are able to sell them off. I hope this helps! -Helenaannevalentine(talk) 02:08, 12 October 2012 (GMT)

Completion bug still present, PS3[edit]

I've added a slightly modified version of this bug I've encountered on the PS3, with all updates and DLC applied. Vekel will reward the player, not take the books, the quest completes, but the quest does not appear in the completed quests list. The journals are not marked as quest items, thus they can be sold and dropped as usual.--DaedalusMachina (talk) 19:08, 26 April 2015 (GMT)

I can confirm this bug on the PS3. I have Hearthfire as the only DLC, and all updates. 66.87.70.229 19:03, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

Reward Details[edit]

(Tested using a level 79 character) As the article states, Vekel's quest reward is a leveled random enchanted one-handed weapon (dagger/mace/sword/war axe) apparently drawn from the Generic Magic Weapons list (see here). With my high-level character, all of the listed enchantments on that page seemed available, as did nearly all of the standard "styles" (no Ancient Nord weapons or Imperial swords), including Daedric. Keep in mind, however, that "leveled" only refers to what is possible--not what is guaranteed. Iron or steel is still the most likely quest reward, even at high levels. So, be prepared to reload several times if you want a higher quality item (or MANY times if you want Daedric). Fortunately, Vekel's reward is determined upon quest completion (which means you can reload until you get an enchanted weapon you prefer). Unfortunately, I have no idea when certain levels trigger--but the overall levels referenced on the Generic Magic Weapons page might also be accurate for Vekel's quest. I don't know if a PC user can use the construction set to access that information or not. (PS3 user) MrC (talk) 17:27, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
