Rargal Thrallmaster

Rargal Thrallmaster is a Nord vampire in Volkihar Keep. As his name suggests, he oversees the vampire thralls and cattle.

Rargal wears a set of gray colored vampire armor with a matching pair of boots. He is equipped with a leveled one-handed weapon which can be up to Elven quality. He carries random leveled bandit loot, as well as a 25% chance of carrying 1-9 gold.

Dialogue

His greetings can be:

"You're welcome here, as long as you don't overfeed on the thralls."

"You're new here, so I'll explain this once. You feed from the thralls as much as you like. You kill them, and I'll split you in half."

"I try and meet the needs of everyone here. No reason for any of us to go hungry."

"Mind yourself in that form. Don't go damaging my thralls." (If spoken to when you're in the Vampire Lord form)

"Without the royal blood flowing through you, you're one step away from the rest of the thralls. You disrespect Lord Harkon by walking around here like that. Go see him at once, else you might find yourself in a cage." (If cured of vampirism before Kindred Judgement)

"Without the royal blood flowing through you, you're one step away from the rest of the thralls. Serana can make you one of us again." (If cured of vampirism after Kindred Judgment)

When spoken to directly:

Where do the thralls come from?

"All over Skyrim. It's my job to collect them. I try and keep something for everyone. For every taste, I mean. Sometimes you get one who comes willingly, but most have to be convinced to join us here."

Notes

• In the Prima Official Game Guide, the summary for him reads:

"Rargal's main role in the court is to make sure Lord Harkon and his underlings are constantly well fed, pulling from the stock of thralls (known as Vampire Cattle} kept in the castle to meet their needs. He prides himself on picking the right thrall for Harkon's mood and keeping the thrall pens well stocked at all times. His cruelty is matched only by his impulsiveness."

Bugs

• Rargal's body may never disappear from the walkway in front of Volkihar Keep after he dies during the events of Kindred Judgment.
  • The Unofficial Dawnguard Patch, version 2.0.4, fixes this bug.
  • Open the console, click on his body, and use the command disable to remove his body from the game.
