Garvey, a Breton scout, is one of the poor and sick of Markarth. He resides in The Warrens, and is an expert level trainer in Sneak. He spends most of the day standing with his back up against the wall near the entrance to the Warrens.
He wears a set of ragged robes and ragged boots. He is equipped with an iron dagger, and carries a key to his room and a key to Weylin's room.

Related Quests[edit]
- The Forsworn Conspiracy: Investigate a murder in Markarth to discover a sinister plot surrounding the Forsworn.
Dialogue[edit]
His potential greetings are:
- "The Warrens isn't a place for your type. What do you want?"
- "Warrens ain't for you. Trust me."
When spoken to directly:
- What are the Warrens?
- "It's where you go if you can't afford a room anywhere else. About the time they opened the mines, someone got the idea to throw beds in here. Laborers. The sick. The lame. We're all here."
- So, only the poor or the sick live here?
- "That's right. Welcome to Markarth, traveler. Thank the Divines you can choose to live somewhere else."
Quest-Related Events[edit]
During your investigation into the Forsworn he can be asked about whether or not he knew Weylin:
- Did you know Weylin?
- "Oh yes. I know everyone who sleeps in the Warrens. Kind of the one who passes the keys around. I guess someone else will be taking his room, now."
- I need the key to Weylin's room.
- "Sorry, but you don't exactly belong here."

Passed: "Welcome to the Warrens." Failed: "No, I don't think so." |
I wasn't asking. (Intimidate) |
Passed: "Now don't get all upset. Here. Take it." Failed: "And I wasn't stuttering. No key." |
Never mind, then. | "Right." |
Rumors[edit]
During The Forsworn Conspiracy, asking Mulush gro-Shugurz for the key to Weylin's room will have him refer you to Garvey:
- "You want Garvey. He handles the keys for the Warrens. About the only thing that disease-riddled native is good for."
Unused Dialogue[edit]
Garvey's second topic, where he reaffirms the type of people living at the Warrens, bears the internal name of DialogueMarkarthGarveyMiserableTopic
. This is due to the fact that your prompt originally read:
- This place looks miserable.
This earlier iteration can only be seen in the game's DialogueViews files, and not the Creation Kit.
Notes[edit]
- Despite what Garvey says, no one in the Warrens has any disease you can catch. These diseases are only present on wild animals in Skyrim, unlike Oblivion, where beggars also carried such diseases.
- Similarly, despite Mulush describing him as "disease-riddled", you cannot catch anything from him, nor does he seem to suffer any visible discomfort like Cairine.
Bugs[edit]
- Garvey has three eat packages and a sleep package that get blocked due to the fact that his main package,
MarkarthWarrensGarveyFrontPackage
, has no duration set.
