Dawnguard Weapons[edit]

Dawnguard weapons gain an additional 5 points of damage against vampires. This includes the Dawnguard Rune Axe but not the Dawnguard Rune Hammer, due to a bug.

  • Does additional damage to vampires.
  • This effect seems not to be considered an enchantment, so these weapons can be enchanted like any normal unenchanted weapon, though they will always display the text "Especially effective against vampires."
  • Three can be found on the top of the northern tower at Fort Dawnguard on two weapon plaques.

Dawnguard Armor[edit]

When wearing a full set of armor (body armor, boots, gauntlets, and helmet), Dawnguard armors reduce incoming damage from vampires by 25% and the magnitude of hostile spells cast by vampires is reduced by 25%. Mixing the light and heavy sets will not confer the bonus, however.[verification needed — Looks like it should still work in the CK] Additionally, the bonus is "hidden" as it does not appear in the active effects menu. Light armor benefits from the Matching Set perk, but heavy armor does not due to a bug.

The heavy armor protects as well as Dwarven armor does, for less weight (even less than Blades Armor), but still offers less protection for more weight than Steel Plate Armor; the big selling point is when you're up against vampires. The light armor offers protection between Elven and Scaled, for weight also between them, but is less protection for more weight than Elven Gilded Armor or ChitinDB - again, the compelling interest here is specifically for fighting vampires, particularly the protection against spells, which armor normally provides no protection at all against.

Equipping the Dawnguard Shield prevents the Well Fitted, Custom Fit, and both Matching Set perks from functioning.
§The Matching Set perk does not work for Dawnguard heavy armor.
