Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Your icy reward

Cold Blooded Murder[edit]

Travel to a camp south of Skaal Village, just across from Thirsk Mead Hall on the island of Solstheim. There you will come upon the body of a dead Skaal villager. The murderer's name is Skjol the Tongueless, as revealed by the journal left at the scene of the crime. Skjol does not appear to be too bright, and killed the villager after learning the location of a stalhrim deposit north of Castle Karstaag.

The deposit in question is on an unnamed island just northeast of Northshore Landing (map). Usually home to angry horkers, you will instead find it to be occupied by a much angrier Skjol wielding an enchanted battleaxe. He will attack on sight, so put him down and claim the hoard for yourself: a rare deposit of stalhrim and a full set of Stalhrim Fur armor lying in a sarcophagus. Take the set to complete the quest; you will now begin to see Stalhrim Fur items showing up as random loot in the world.

Notes[edit]

  • The location is not on the map. To find the camp, travel north from Thirsk Mead Hall, along the lake.
  • Stalhrim Fur armor uses the same model as Stalhrim armor in Blades.
  • The island where Skjol makes his last stand can be difficult to climb onto from the water. If you use Ahzidal's Boots of Waterwalking, found in Kolbjorn Barrow elsewhere on Solstheim, you can attack Skjol with ranged attacks while avoiding his battleaxe, or jump from the water's surface onto the shore and avoid being attacked while in the water as you struggle to climb out.
  • Stalhrim Fur Armor will appear in leveled lists once the quest has been completed, sometimes being worn by Reaver Lords.

Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ccBGSSSE057_Quest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest ccBGSSSE057_Quest.
