Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Calvus Tolinius watches over his goat herd in the remote hinterlands of the Strident Coast. He and his goats are located north of Fort Heath and east of the old Reman ruin of Eumaeus. If neither of those landmarks are familiar to you, look for the massive tower of Garlas Agea. Calvus is some way to the west of that.
Talking to Calvus reveals that he's one goat short, and he'll ask that you look out for the missing buck, named Kod. He suggests looking around the Ayleid ruin of Gulaida and the ruins of Swordmoth Legion Fort, both a fair walk to the northeast near the Gold Road. Gulaida is the tall, thin tower (pictured), and Kod stands in the valley to its immediate north. You'll find him flanked by two (friendly) goblins. One has a bruised head and doesn't feel like talking. The other is chattier - ask him about Kod, and you'll find it unwilling to hand over its new goat friend. You can ask to compromise or to accept the goblin's possession of the goat.
The compromise suggestion will see the goblin propose a deal - you bring it a bottle of Aliyew, and it'll give you Kod. The closest source of Aliyew is likely the Gosha Inn (rejoin the Gold Road to your south and follow it east to reach this place). Accepting that the goblin now owns Kod will see a different deal proposed - it'll offer you a shiny trinket if you tell Calvus that Kod was eaten by a beast. Do this and return to the goblin for a Saliache Right Bracer.
You can also just kill the goblins.
Assuming that you haven't told Calvus that Kod is dead, you now have the unenviable task of moving your goat. A Command Creature spell can make Kod follow, although punching the goat and letting it charge all the way after you as you run back to Calvus is also an option - it'll calm as you reach him.
Once you've brought Kod within range of Calvus, your journal will update and you can speak to Calvus for your reward - 50 gold and ten pieces of Goat Fur.
