Unnamed?[edit]

While this place's name may not show on the map or in the top right corner of the screen, it's still clearly named in at least one journal entry of the Badwater Mine quest ("I met a miner named Samsi at the Badwater mine") and several dialogue lines. I don't know the exact rule defining what we consider a place and what we don't in ESO, but wouldn't these sources be enough to keep this one at least as an unmarked location? --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 03:00, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

So far we haven't been creating pages for places that are unnamed (ie, not named by pop-up text), and we deleted the only other instance of a place page which is named in quest lore but not in the game data (Fang Spires). If we start creating pages for these sorts of places, we would need another category of "Unnamed Places" (or something) to cover them, as they are not presented in the same way as what we consider Unmarked Places (which have names in the data that pop up, whether that's in the corner, on the door, the map, or the loading screen). You get to a bit of a slippery slope if you start this, because you could reasonably then start creating pages for things that you know the name of from other lore, but which are also unnamed in-game (like Lake Poppad or the Corbolo River). Badwater Mine is a bit of a unique case, as it's the only place I can think of that is given a name in quest text which does not appear outside of the quest and is also not part of a larger location (Fang Spires is within the Vale of the Ghost Snake). If you can think of some others, then we should probably come up with something for them. --Enodoc (talk) 12:40, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
Bah, I was thinking about this a bit more and you're right, there's no reason to not include something that is named in-game, whether that's through quest text or independently. For the most part, they can be included in higher level pages (like Fang Spires in Vale of the Ghost Snake and Lake Hlaalu at Lake Hlaalu Retreat), but this one is a bit on it's own, so it really needs its own page. --Enodoc (talk) 15:26, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
