Restoration Potion[edit]
I have had attributes damaged in battle that are still brown (and lower). Will a restore attribute potion permently fix the problem or only for the alloted time? — Unsigned comment by 72.146.112.251 (talk) on 20 August 2008
- It will restore it permanently, although you might want to just go and pray at a church. Crowbar 16:11, 19 August 2008 (EDT)
Restoring fortified attributes[edit]
Let's say I have 150 willpower using constant effect enchantments on my gear. If I have it damaged by 10 points (to value of 140) will the restore willpower spell restore my attribute to 150 points or should I takeoff my armor so my willpower will be 90 and then restore? I ask because I remember that somewhere I read about this kind of bug (game recognized a 100+ attribute as not damaged even if it was).
And one more question. Is there any effect in game (poison, disease, damage attribute) that I can't heal during (or just after) the fight but I have to go to the altar in a chapel?
There's no "damage skill" spell in game used by any enemy, is there?
I understand that I don't have to worry about drain attribute because it is restored to previous value automatically when the effect ends?

1 & 2: Not 100% sure, but I think not. 3: Correct, there is no Damage Skill effect in game at all. Only Absorb Skill; Absorb reverts to normal like Drain, when it is an Absorb Skill, but is permanent for Absorb Health. There is more on the relevant pages. 4: Correct. Restore Attribute Potions?[edit]
I question the appropriateness of separate and solitary Attribute pages with redirects from more precise page names such as Restore Luck. It is absurd to have a list of ingredients lumped together at the bottom of this page, when the total number of effects they have in common is not much greater than the number of types of effects, none of which are named. And, "you very rarely need more than a few points of this effect"? quite clearly Attribute is not an effect in the same way as others.
I appreciate that an attempt has been made to take eight pages that would say very little and turn them into one. However, what has come of it is one page that not only says nothing much, but nothing true. Anarchangel 18:33, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- If I understood well, your concern is that there should be individual pages for each restore attribute effect? -MC• S'drassa •T2M 19:17, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes. The list of ingredients at the bottom of the page is meaningless, as only 15% or so can be sharing the same effect as any one ingredient one cares to look at, and there is no indication which attribute an ingredient has before following the link. I have seen this before, on Final Fantasy XI wiki, where people get it into their heads that a page full of blind links is better, I presume because it is neater or somesuch. Perhaps there is room for a compromise, tho'. We could make sub-categories of the attributes, with a brief note on each one and the ingredients that feature it? And a link to the Calculator would be good also, it is where I go now when I have to look up an effect to get ingredients for. Anarchangel 17:07, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
Same goes for Fortify Attribute, Drain Attribute, etc. I can do the work if I get the OK. Anarchangel 17:09, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- I really don't think is a good idea to split them up as they would be very small articles, and the ingredients are explained very well since most of them have the restore attribute effect as the first one (novice). Only a few ingredients have them as a second or third effect. It would probably be best to make it clearer that is better to just eat an ingredient rather to make a potion. As for the calculator it is the same, since it's better to just eat the ingredient I don't think is necessary to add a link. --MC• S'drassa •T2M 17:20, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- Other than your preferred playstyle, any reason to not include the calculator link? Anarchangel 12:44, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I don't think that it should be added because it is better placed only in the Alchemy page, if not we would need to add the link to all the magical effects pages with ingredients, but that's just my opinion, you can try by asking someone else to give their opinion too. --MC• S'drassa •T2M 15:15, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Damaged Speed[edit]
I don't know what to do when Speed is red?
I was fighting with goblin and I have seen Your speed is damaged. Please Help!!!!— Unsigned comment by 78.3.134.135 (talk) on 26 December 2009
- There are several ways in which you can restore it: cast a restore speed spell, drink a potion of restore speed, eat an ingredient with restore speed as the first effect, or the simplest way: pray at the main altar of any chapel.--MC• S'drassa •T2M 18:59, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Chapels work, and so do Wayshrines. Anarchangel 17:07, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
Anyone have a problem with me adding this note?[edit]
Just something about if you try to restore stuff and it doesn't work that you probably have a disease? Might prevent those -2 fatigues from turning into full blown vampire. — Unsigned comment by Catmaniac66 (talk • contribs) on 27 February 2010
- It is pretty obvious as you can see anything like this in the "active effects" page under the spell tab in the menu--Corevette789 01:46, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
- I was just basing that on the fact that new players generally don't know that, and also because of all the posts above that mention not being able to fix it (though most are just doing it wrong, one struck me because he said he had -2 fatigue, and that he tried healing it). I won't add anything though, because it was fairly minor — Unsigned comment by Catmaniac66 (talk • contribs) on 27 February 2010
- Well this is a semi-old discussion but from what I remember (haven't played Oblivion in a while) a disease doesn't appear in the active effects page, so that note might be good actually.--TheAlbinoOrc 19:49, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

restoration not working right[edit]
every time i go to a chapel or take a restore speed potion my speed permanently goes up, my orriginal speed was sixty but after going to the chapel 3 times its 375, thats with the potions. how is this happening???? — Unsigned comment by 80.42.177.226 (talk) at 07:42 on April 15, 2011
This would have to be mod related. As far as I know, it is impossible for the stats to remain, as it is a simple Restore. --DKong27 Talk Cont 19:10, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
- My bet is that a small scratch or series of scratches just makes the game mix up fortify and restore in this case. It happened to me only instead of getting the level 25 level up message for athletics I got the description of the high elf race...--Catmaniac66 19:21, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
Restore Attribute bugged when used on NPC?[edit]
Hi, I think I need some confirmation about this, if this problem was caused by OBSE/other thing or just I haven't noticed it.
Restore Attribute spell doesn't work on NPC's as intended. I casted a restore strength 1000 spell on an NPC (created using CS) and then, his strength was 1051 after cast. After that I casted the same spell again then the original 51 strength was restored. If I cast it again it adds 1000 again, and restores it back on yet another cast, and over and over.
GetBaseActorValue constantly reports it 51. Any idea? --Movomo (talk) 14:55, 30 December 2013 (GMT)
Restore Attribute bug on PS3[edit]
I've been playing Oblivion on PS3 (GotY edition, Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine installed), more specifically, I've been playing through Shivering Isles, and occasionally I'll get hit with a poison that Damages Luck while fighting with Grummites. No big deal, I figure, I collected some Worm's Head Cap for just such a scenario. Or so I thought. Problem is, I've eaten through my full stack of the ingredient already, and it has done nothing to restore my Luck back to full. Or have any effect at all. My luck is damaged, and is not currently being modified by any spells, poisons, potions or enchantments, and the little heart symbol does appear in the upper right corner of the screen when I eat the ingredients implying that it should be working. But it's not. Is this some bug exclusive to PS3 or something? It's kind of frustrating having to go back to Cyrodiil to restore my Luck everytime I get hit with the wrong poison (I purchased most of the Restore Attribute spells, but the Restore Luck wasn't available, since that can only be purchased in Anvil chapel). For the record, I tried eating some Taproot, too, and that didn't work, either. I did try a Strong Potion of Fortune (or whatever the standard restore luck potion is called), and that worked just fine to restore my attributes, but those potions are expensive and hard to find. I can't reliably stock up on those, and count on having them around for every one of these situations. Not to mention it's a complete waste, since my Luck is only damaged by 4 points, and these restore 20. And I only have the one.
What is going on here?
