knights of nine glitch[edit]
- (Question moved from Oblivion_Talk:Glitches)
I am having a glitch when i go to do the boots missioin. I go to talk to te priest but she doersnt have anything to say about the boots nor can I say anything to her about them. I followed te green quest arrow right to the shrine and to her but there just isnt any option for te boots. I even went back and talked to the ghosts hoping that I missed somthing. I hope somone can help because it is broke until i can get passed that glitch. — Unsigned comment by Orthowen (talk • contribs)
- Your problem is probably because the Knights of the Nine mod is not the last one being loaded, as explained in the Bugs section. --Nephele 10:35, 8 February 2007 (EST)
- Thanks, Wrye, for filling in more complete info on this bug... since I've never dealt with the bug, or with changing mod load order, my attempts to revise it were mainly intelligent guesses. I feel alot better now knowing that the info has been cleaned up :) --Nephele 23:40, 8 February 2007 (EST)
Failed Test[edit]
im am currently on the "nature's fury" quest and i have failed it twice already. but now when i try 2 take it again by talking 2 avita vesnia but she says "You agreed to be tested. You must finish your test." Is this a glitch or what? please help me
P.S. i have the ps3 version of the game

- You have to wait at least 24 hours to be able to take the test again. Until you pass the test, the quest will not move forward. You shouldn't need to talk to Avita Vesnia, just go back to the grove again and wait for the bear. --NepheleTalk 17:55, 20 April 2007 (EDT)
That doesn't work for me - I've waited 48 straight hours to no avail. 68.205.145.219 16:10, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
- Try leaving the area and waiting for three days. If you've accidentally killed the bear, you may need to wait for it to respawn. --Gaebrial 03:36, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

- I have the PS3 version of the game and I'm having the same problem. I failed this quest months ago, so I don't quite remember what I did, but I don't think that I killed the Forest Guardian. I definitely remember attacking him, though. When I go back and talk to Avita Vesnia, she says "You have agreed to be tested. You must finish the test." When I walk over to the grove, no matter how long I wait, nothing happens. I've tried walking away from the grove and waiting 24 hours three times in a row as suggested above, but that doesn't seem to do anything. The bear won't respawn, period. Pretty annoying considering the fact that I can't get the crusader boots or mace now. Any help would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I think I'll contact Bethesda and see if they can take my PS3 save file and manually change the quest progress or something. --Kevin, 10 February 2009
Not working I think the quest is broken...68.205.103.233 23:52, 26 July 2008 (EDT)
Weapon equipped?[edit]
The page states that Avita will tell you to "finish your fights" if you have a weapon equipped - I remember having the sword equipped and she never said that. I believe it should say 'readied' or 'unsheathed'. CRACK-A-BACK 19:24, 22 July 2007 (EDT)
- Actually, she'll still talk to you even if you have a weapon drawn. The "finish your fights" dialogue only comes up when you are in the middle of being chased by an enemy, and then it appears whether your weapon is out, sheathed, or even unequipped. I've updated the article. --NepheleTalk 01:25, 24 July 2007 (EDT)
What happens when you kill the bear?[edit]
I have always wondered what happens when you kill the bear. I am to afraid of something bad happening to try it out. Can someone tell me what happens?
If you kill the bear you win 1 point of Infamy, but you can retry the quest.
Bear, part two[edit]
What happens with the bear after the quest? Is he/she disabled?--LordDagon 13:20, 19 March 2008 (EDT)
This question was asked three years ago but I still want an answer.
Bugs section bugged after revert[edit]
The following was removed after a revert:
- Due to a bug in dialog, Avita may fail to greet you correctly (and thus move the quest forward). The problem only appears in the PC version, and even then will not appear unless another mod loading after it also modifies greetings.
This left the solutions to it hanging under the bug where the guardian gets stuck, making it seem that they were solutions to the bug with the guardian!
Since the solutions are there, I will restore the bug, and yes, it is a bug. There are two methods of adding a dialog topic: an Add Topics field in the CS or the embedded script command "AddTopic {topicID}" in the dialog response. Bethesda used the Add Topics field even though the modding community is and was at the time well aware of the engine bug that causes this problem and the workaround; it should never be used in mods but only in master (ESM) files. The added topic will fail to appear if another mod loaded afterwards adds topics to the same top-level tree, but using the embedded scripting it works fine. Kivan 23:50, 4 June 2008 (EDT)
Reflect Damage?[edit]
If you have a Reflect Damage Effect, will it count as fighting the bear? --Debatra 02:20, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- As the article already states, "You should not wear any article of clothing with a Reflect Damage enchantment, as it will cause the Forest Guardian bear to continue attacking and the stone door to the grotto will not open." –Rpeh•T•C•E• 03:37, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- I must disagree. I'm on the PS3 system and I completed the quest just minutes ago. I had the "Ring of the Iron Fist" equipped, which has a 33% reflect damage, while covering my self from the bears blows with a Knights of the Nine Shield. I saw his/her health clearly reduce and after a few swings at me (s)he gave up and the stone moved aside. This seems to prove completely the opposite what the article states. 80.186.219.89 19:49, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Moved notes[edit]
- The Forest Guardian seems reminiscent of the guardian from the Rigante book: "The Sword in the Storm". It too was a large bear and could not be defeated through violence. To defeat it, Connavar (the 'hero' of the book) simply did not attack it despite its growls and roars and walked around it.
I've been pruning the notes sections for quest pages. If you feel this should be re-added please leave a message here of why you think it should be. --AKB Talk 16:03, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
moved from bugs section[edit]
Hello it like to type this fix it helped me there is actualy a chance that you dont need to move Knights of the Nine esp on top what i did is stated the game again and then i just went throught the mian quest storyline of Oblivion and then knights of the nine and incredibly then it worked!
- i moved this because its first person and doesnt make much sense to me (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 10:37, 30 July 2011 (UTC))
Guardian just walking around[edit]
I have been standing on the marked spot and the only thing that has happened is that the bear guardian has showed up but it just keeps walking around and ignoring me. Any ideas? — Unsigned comment by 208.157.188.167 (talk) at 02:05 on 17 January 2013
- (edit conflict) Have had this happen to me before. There are a couple of things you can try:
- Leaving, waiting somewhere and returning later on might trigger a reaction from the bear.
- Attacking the bear, then waiting for it to respawn the next day and taking the trial again.
- Casting a Rally spell on the bear should cause it to attack, and the quest to continue.
Cave not opening[edit]
In Nature's Fury quest, after I don't kill the bear, the cave just doesn't open. It seems like theres some sort of animation but the big rock is still in the way. I have the unofficial Knights of the Nine ESP patch. Any ideas of what I can do?
Thanks!
