Help Countess Carvain recharge the stone from Tyrfing's hilt. |

Walkthrough[edit]
At the end of the previous quest, the countess has gone off to the Imperial City to address the Elder Council. Go to the Palace District, and you'll get to see a video. She'll emerge afterward and tell you that she's going back to Bruma to do some research. Go to Bruma and talk to her, and she'll tell you that you have to go to Sedor to recharge the stone in Tyrfing's Hilt. She insists on going too, since she's the only one who knows how to do it.
So, it's off to Sedor. Once you solve all the puzzles and get to the battle with the xivilai, the countess will charge the stone while you fight. Don't waste your energy - it can't be killed, and that's not really the point: you're just supposed to keep it distracted. Once the countess gets the stone charged, she will lose all her energy, so Helgarth will take her back to Bruma and you can leave the ruin. Head back to the castle and talk to Ocato.

I met Helgarth before the Elder Council. He says that the meeting had already started, and that the Countess has probably already informed the Council about Ocato. I should go - they will surely be expecting me. |

The Council meeting is not going very well. They won't trust an undead and a former emperor. If the Empire follows a monster's advice, it is feared that this would be the beginning of moral decay. So I'm out on my own again. |

The countess left due to foolishness of the councilors on the Elder Council. Now that the gem has to be charged, she will return to Bruma and search her records for clues about the whereabouts of one of those ancient creatures the Ayleids once used to empower the stone. Helgarth will accompany her. I should prepare myself, meanwhile, for a fight against one of those creatures. As soon as I'm ready, I should travel to Bruma and see what the Countess could find. |

The Countess has actually found evidence of these ancient beasts. In the Ayleid ruin of Sedor, east of Bruma, an Archdemon is said to have wrought his mischief until well into the Third Era. The Countess now knows how the stone can be recharged, and wants to accompany me into the ruin. Helgarth will also come along. |

I solved another mystery in the depths of the Ayleid ruin of Sedor. I just hope that we reach the end soon and kill this demon, or whatever it may be. |

We have found the demon. This monster is damned strong and powerful, and it seems to possess magical powers. |

The stone is recharged. Now we can defeat Mephala's minions with its help. However, the Countess has fainted. I suspect that the magic that recharged the stone was too great, and has therefore discharged. Therefore, Helgarth and I will split up. While he brings the Countess to Bruma, I will return to the Order castle and ask Pelagius for advice. |

I've left Sedor. Now it is time to return to the Order castle and ask Pelagius for advice. |
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage ODDHQ05Demon stage
, where stage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
