Walkthrough[edit]
The quest starts when you find the Blood Chalice in the Temple of the Dead. You'll get a quest marker pointing to a woman named "Unknown"; if you have the markers turned off, she's beside the entrance to the Holy Book Tombs, near Sula. She wants you to go inside and find her a book. It's on a pedestal on the upper level of one of the large rooms; when you touch it, you'll have a vision, where you appear in another location. When the vision ends, take the book back to her.
Next, she wants you to recover the Key to Eternity, which is located in Rimkan Dause's house in Kathar. His house has a passage in the rear that leads into the cliffs. Follow the path around until you come to another room, then go up the stairs to the table and grab the scroll on the shelf above it.
Now the woman will finally reveal her plans - she's after a treasure. She'll lead you to the ruins of the Pekalu Oasis, in the center of which is a partially-flooded temple. Go inside, place the chalice at the altar, then take the pickaxe nearby and break a piece off the rock on the dais and place this into the chalice to power it up. You then have a choice: Keep the chalice for yourself, or hand it over. If you choose the former, she becomes angry and attacks you. Be prepared for a fight: she's a L82 battlemage with some powerful spells at her disposal. If you hand it over, she leaves without a fight and the quest ends. If you defeat her, the quest ends and you can keep the chalice as the prize.
And what a prize - anytime you kill an NPC or animal, you can drain their blood into the chalice and drink it; this will quench your thirst just like water (or blood, if you're a vampire), obviating the need to carry water or other drinks.
Journal Entries[edit]
The Chalice and the Stone (ODDDesertKelchQuest) | ||
---|---|---|
Stage | Finishes Quest | Journal Entry |
5 | I've found a strange chalice here in the Temple of the Dead. It was in a separate room. It's richly decorated and seems without question to be a ceremonial object. I should keep it for the time being - you never know. | |
10 | East of the Water Fort, I met a woman. She wore strange clothes and spoke in a strange voice. She wanted me to help her to recover a book she has been seeking for a long time. | |
20 | I offered to help the poor woman with the strange voice. I need to find the book she seeks. She says that it is here in the ruins. So I just have to find the entrance. | |
40 | When I touched the book I was to get for the enigmatic woman, I had a vision. I saw the book lying there in front of me, destroyed - at least apparently - but... did I see right? It didn't disappear when it started to burn? And the woman who wanted the book wasn't the same woman who's waiting for me up there? | |
50 | I took the book that the enigmatic woman wants. And now, to get out of this ancient ruin! | |
55 | I handed over the book from the ruin to the woman with the strange voice. | |
60 | The woman asked me for another favor. I should bring her the Key to Eternity, an ancient parchment that is in the possession of a man named Rimkam Dause. He probably lives in Kathar - or lived. Because supposedly he is dead and only Talvanus, his neighbor, knows about it. He uses the house to guard its secrets therein. Whatever it represents. Now I must get into the house and recover the parchment. But be careful! There could be traps there. | |
65 | I found the parchment with the name Key to Eternity. I should now return to the woman the fastest way I can. | |
70 | I've handed over the parchment to the woman. | |
80 | A treasure! It's about a treasure! The woman said she now knows where it is. In the ruins in the Pekalu Oasis. She wants to lead me there. | |
90 | The strange woman directed me to go into the ruin. She didn't want to accompany me herself - why, she wouldn't say. She was downright angry when I dug deeper. I must go in there alone. The ruin is half-submerged in the water. | |
95 | The strange rock here in the ruins in the Pekalu Oasis has given the Blood Chalice its power. With its help, it's possible to quench one's thirst with the blood of one's enemies. Is this the treasure the woman was talking about? In my opinion, it carries the scent of necromancy. It's probably no coincidence that I found the Blood Chalice in the Temple of the Dead. I should leave the ruins again and see the strange woman has to say. | |
97 | The strange woman has made herself known as a witch and claims to have manipulated me all the time to get to the Blood Chalice. She didn't have to restore it herself, she used me to do so. But now it's over! I will finish her off. | |
100 | I've killed the witch. The Blood Chalice is now mine. With its help, I can quench my thirst with the blood of my enemies. or |

- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage ODDDesertKelchQuest stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
