Eyevea

I've added in Eyevea with the translation "Sanctuary". This comes from a cut line of dialogue "We named the place Eyevea. It means "Sanctuary" in the Altmer tongue.", so I marked it as UOL. Originally, the game planned to have it that the island was always in Tamriel and named Eyevea at the end of the questline when shalidor gave it to the Mages Guild, with its primary name being Sanctuary. There's still many remnants of this; eyevea is referred to as a sanctuary numerous times especially by shalidor, occasionally with the noun form capitalization "My long-lost Sanctuary shares some similarities to this place …"

Proposed Additions

Happy and I discussed this page on the Discord. In the interest of letting either side get additional opinions, the words that Happy wants to add that I object to are Russafeld and Tamriel. I believe these are both Aldmeris-only words, while Happy believes they qualify for this page as well. Further input is desired, as right now it is just as with opposing views. To me it seems to be a case of Aldmeris words that inherited by High Elvish, therefore being terms present in both languages. Similarly, many words in English are inherited directly from Latin, such as the term simulacrum. If I were listing all words present in the English language, would I remove simulacrum from the list simply because it appears in Latin as well? Probably not. So this boils down to a case of whether Russafeld and Tamriel are words used by the Altmer in the present. Russafeld is the common name used by Altmer, even if it is derived from Aldmeris (on that note, is High Elvish not just a dialect of Aldmeris in a way) so therefore it should stay. For Tamriel I would need to see if Altmer themselves translate it the same, such as in their myths. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 22:09, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

Russafeld is just the name of a ruin though. There are ruins in Cyrodiil in Ayleidoon, but just because people refer to those ruins by their Ayleidoon names doesn't mean they're carryovers from that language into Tamrielic. Mindtrait0r (talk) 22:53, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
