Vulthuryol[edit]

I'm not sure we can claim in the lore that the Dovahkiin fought Vulthuryol. As far as I know, fighting him is not attached to any quest. He seems to be a sort of Easter Egg; it's sort of like assuming the Dovahkiin talked to M'aiq the Liar. Minor Edits (talk) 00:17, 13 September 2012 (GMT)

I certainly wouldn't consider Vulthuryol an Easter egg. There's no contradictory evidence that the Dovahkiin didn't fight him, so it should be standard procedure to assume that he did. Some examples of similar situations include Lore:Aundae Clan, where it is assumed that many of its members were killed, and Lore:Sutch, where it assumes that the Oblivion Gate near Fort Sutch was closed even though it isn't a proper "quest". —Legoless (talk) 12:56, 13 September 2012 (GMT)
The problem is that you have to do something highly unusual to make Vulthuryol appear: Shout at the glowing orange globe. Without being told, there is only a very small chance that anyone would ever do this. That's what marks it as an Easter egg, I think: the fact that the action needed to trigger the events is extremely unlikely in normal play, unlike, say, the closing of an Oblivion Gate, which is more or less a routine (though not compulsory) action. 174.6.51.17 07:09, 18 October 2012 (GMT)
...And yet we include Eltonbrand in lore, despite the fact that it is an obivous and overly-obscure Easter egg. I find an Oblivion Gate to be a weak argument; in fact, I'd almost call it a supporting analogy, as most of the Gates are completely random. You don't have to be "told" to do something for it to be canon, even if Bethesda is growing increasingly fond of holding the player's hand. —Legoless (talk) 18:32, 18 October 2012 (GMT)

Creating a new section above “Notable Places” which instead lists Dwemer settlements that are connected to Blackreach?[edit]

Blackreach is absolutely massive and portions can be can be found beneath many if not every Hold. Other than the various freestanding Great Lifts which can be found scattered across the province, a large number of Skyrim’s Dwemer settlements are also connected to Blackreach. It would be convenient to include a section similar to that of the more generic “notable places” sections found both here and across the site but instead craft a list including each Dwemer settlement that connects to Blackreach. Although they’re not Dwemer cities, miscellaneous locations that also connect to Blackreach will be listed as well, beginning directly beneath the final listed city, finally at the bottom of the list if they’re even going to be included at all are the various great lifts.

Cities

  • Raldbthar
  • Irkngthand
  • Alftand
  • Nchuand-Zel (Markarth)
  • Bthar-Zel
  • Mzinchaleft
  • Kagalthar

Miscellaneous Connected Locales

  • Silversnow Mine (Dusktown)
  • The Grinning Horker
  • Tower of Mzark

Great Lifts

  • Arkthzand Great Lift
  • Karthald Great Lift
  • Hjaalmarch Great Lift
  • Nalzthdbar Great Lift
  • Eastern Great Lift
  • Alftand Great Lift
  • Mzinchaleft Great Lift
  • Raldbthar Great Lift
  • Kagalthar Great Lift

P.S. Let me know if I’m missing anything please. — Unsigned comment by StormySkies (talkcontribs) at 15:24 on 12 March 2025 (UTC)

I think this is a nice idea. Although the Great Lifts can probably be listed in prose rather than bullets (if at all), since there isn't much to say about them other than where they are. I would probably put that whole idea within Notable Places as subsections, e.g. "Cities Connected to Blackreach", "Locations within Blackreach" (the existing list), and "Other Locations". --Enodoc (talk) 20:31, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
Nice idea. Great Lifts can probably stay as bulletpoints, albeit formatted into 3 columns. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 01:59, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
