Turuk Redclaws was a Khajiit and a founding member of the Undaunted, a group of adventurers who sought out great challenges for gold and glory.[1]
Turuk believed that the success in the depths was about shrewdness rather than techniques or weapons. He found great value in the construction of blood altars during combat, which he admittedly relied on. He was skilled enough in blood altar construction to teach newer members of the Undaunted how to make use of the art.[2]
He was often dismissive of those who he perceived as lacking courage.[3][4] Despite being a frequent patron of taverns, Turuk was not known for his ability to hold his liquor.[2][5]
History[edit]
Turuk was born at some point during the Second Era, before the Three Banners War. His affinity for peril bloomed at an early age, and he would often undertake wild challenges with his siblings. His mother, unable to handle the constant worry, signed him away to an apprenticeship in the Fighters Guild at the earliest permissible age. However, Turuk found their rules and abundance of caution too tedious for his liking, and struck out on his own path, wandering Tamriel and slaying beasts mentioned by local rumors and farmers' legends.[1]
His personal journey led him across all of Tamriel. Turuk vanquished Grush-grush, an ogre that was allegedly the deadliest in all the provinces, and was involved in slaying Spinesnap, a colossal serpent that ran rampant devouring livestock in the fields of Glenumbra. He accomplished much during his time on the road and made a name for himself.[1]
Throughout his travels, Turuk met many like-minded adventurers. However, in his eyes, only Mighty Mordra and Kailstig the Axe proved to be as fearless and daring as he was. Together, they explored perilous locations across the continent, pushing each other to undertake increasingly ridiculous challenges along the way. Their exploits earned them notoriety, and other adventurers sought them out to join them on their raucous expeditions: thus the Undaunted were born.[1] Turuk took it upon himself to challenge prospective recruits by having them plunder reputedly dangerous locations.[3][6] Sometime after the group formed, he wrote his autobiography, Undaunted: A Life of Glory.[1]
In 2E 582, The Undaunted were hired by the Star-Gazers to find and defeat the Scaled Court in the Craglorn highlands. Turuk led a band of warriors on an expedition to Sanctum Ophidia, where they were overwhelmed by an army of cultists led directly by the Celestial Serpent. The Serpent showed them the vision of a future where it would escape the cavern and destroyed all of Tamriel. Vastly outnumbered and having suffered many casualties, the Undaunted retreated, managing to capture a member of the Scaled Court in their retreat with hopes of gathering intel on the Celestial Serpent and its intentions. The Undaunted eventually secured victory over the Celestial Serpent when additional forces arrived.[3][7][8]
