Lore:Shadowbloom Clan
Shadowbloom Clan was one of numerous clans of Reachfolk that lived in the Reach during the Second Era. They inhabited Markarth and were known to have werewolves among its ranks. Unlike most Reachfolk clans who considered lycanthropy as a transaction with Hircine,[1] the Shadowbloom Clan members considered it as a blessing. They considered the sounds of Markarth unnatural and preferred the wilds, where all the sounds flew at random.[2]
History[edit]
In 2E 582, the Gray Host descended onto the Reach to search for an ancient artifact of great power. Many of the Reachfolk clans stayed in Markarth at the behest of Ard Caddach.[3][4][5] Shadowbloom Clan was one of the groups that stayed in the city of Markarth.[2]
At some point, during their stay in the city, a pretender who claimed to be representative of the Shadowbloom Clan attempted to get into Ard Caddach's favor in order to usurp the leadership of the Shadowbloom clan and become a new chieftain. Upon learning of the treachery, Ard beheaded the traitor personally. This decision earned him the respect of some members of the Shadowbloom Clan.[2]
