Lore:Remnants
The Remnants, also known as the Eyes that Watch,[1] are a Redguard network of warriors and spies from Hammerfell that operate in Skyrim and elsewhere. Their main purpose is to make sure the Aldmeri Dominion and the Thalmor follow the terms and conditions set forth by the Second Treaty of Stros M'Kai, after their retreat from Hammerfell. To that end, they have agents stationed in Skyrim to keep an eye on the Thalmor.[2][3]
History[edit]
For many decades, the Remnants claimed to have helped "steer the destiny of Hammerfell" throughout the Fourth Era.[1] A number of Remnants agents were stationed in Skyrim following 4E 180 that have lived there ever since.[2]
In 4E 201, the Last Dragonborn's skill set drew the attention of the Remnant's leader, Fijeh, at Shor's Stone. The hero was recruited to aid in the capture of a traitor by the name of Ismal, a noble that was aiding the Thalmor, as well as the investigation of one of the Remnant's missing agents.[1][3] The investigation led to the discovery that the Thalmor kidnapped the agent, and planned to move him from Hammerfell into Blacklight.[4] Before that happened, the Last Dragonborn intercepted the wagon in Skyrim near Sunderstone Gorge.[5][3] For dealing with the traitor and rescuing the agent, the Last Dragonborn was bestowed with the Remnants arms and armor, and kept the artifact Boneshaver they looted from Ismal.[3]
