Denogorath
Race Daedra Gender Unknown
Resided in Coldharbour
"I admit it: I missed the way their lissome forms curveted and twirled at the edge of vision, their expressions blank of all emotion but for the avid hunger of the arsonist. I thus made it my purpose, when the duties of my office could spare me, to find a substitute for the exiled flame atronachs, some other conjurable entity that would replace the charismatic peril of their presence."
—Denogorath[1]

Denogorath the Dread Archivist and Promulgator of Mandatory Doctrine,[2] was a Daedra servant of Molag Bal. They served as a custodian of the Library of Dusk,[3] a place of indoctrination within the realm of Coldharbour,[4] and was not only a skilled conjurer,[1] but also a prolific author. Their works included the guidelines of armor for Xivkyn Daedra,[2] and detailed dossiers on the nature of various Daedric species, such as Cold-Flame Atronachs and Daedric Titans.[1][3]

Their writings were frequently referenced and studied by scholars and mages with a particular interest in Apocrypha, including Arcanist Martina Abor and Master Malkhest of the Infinite Archive.[5][6]

History[edit]

Library of Dusk
Cold-Flame Atronach

Little is known of Denogorath's past. They served as the Dread Archivist and Promulgator of Mandatory Doctrine within Coldharbour.[2] They held numerous responsibilities related to the tomes of Library of Dusk.[1][3]

Denogorath was particularly fond of Flame Atronachs and was deeply displeased when they were banished from Coldharbour following an unfortunate incident. The banishment came after Markynaz Zexxil conjured one within the palace, and its heat irreparably damaged Dilogene's Ice Fangs No. 4, one of Molag Bal's favorite sculptures. Determined to fill the void left by their absence, Denogorath began seeking a suitable substitute, some other conjurable entity that could replicate the charismatic peril once embodied by the Flame Atronachs. They endeavored to do so when the duties of their office allowed. They used a transliminal scanner to survey over 37,000 Oblivion planes, eventually discovering DOP 9497.15, also known as the Fourth Sinus of Takubar. Recognizing it as a cold counterpart to Infernace, the home of Flame Atronachs, they found Cold-Flame Atronachs in this plane. After modifying Koron's Peremptory Summons they successfully summoned a Cold-Flame Atronach to Coldharbour, where it served as a sentry, similar to its fiery cousins. Denogorath later documented this endeavor in Daedra Dossier: Cold-Flame Atronach, detailing the discovery and summoning of the cold-flame Atronachs.[1] These creatures have remained a permanent part of Coldharbour ever since, fulfilling the role of sentries in the realm.[7]

At some point shortly before the Planemeld of 2E 582, Denogorath received a formal complaint from Kkrohziz the Greater Titan, who was displeased to discover that the Library of Dusk held no records concerning the origins of the Daedric Titans. In response, Denogorath undertook the task of compiling research into their history, a project they deemed timely, as it marked the first occasion Molag Bal planned to unleash the Titans upon Nirn. This effort eventually culminated in the publication of Daedra Dossier: The Titans.[3]

At one point, the Denogorath outlined the formal style expected of the newly formed Xivkyn Honor Guard of Molag Bal. They decreed that the Xivkyn must be outfitted in a manner that would bring glory to Molag Bal and inspire fear in the hearts of his enemies.[2]
