King Dead Wolf-Deer also known as the Elder Lord of Teeth and Twenty Antlers[UOL 1] was a Bosmer who was transformed into a monster-mer in the fourth century of the First Era by the Wild Hunt.[1] The Wild Hunt transformation turned him into a monster that had wolf, deer, and even crocodilian traits.[2]

The Wild Hunt that Wolf-Deer was a part of came about during the reign of Skyrim High King Borgas, the last member of the Ysgramor Dynasty. Borgas was a staunch supporter of the Prophet Marukh but a conflict was growing between the Empire and the Camoran Dynasty. Borgas set off for Cyrodiil to urge a joint war with Skyrim against the Bosmer. Before he could get there however, he was slaughtered at the hands of King Dead Wolf-Deer.[1][3]

Dead Wolf-Deer later on in history was known to stalk the Lynpar March.[1] Sometime before his death in 3E 320, Emperor Uriel Septim VI and his half-sister Morihatha traversed the Lynpar March where they encountered the aggressive Dead Wolf-Deer who killed all of their royal escorts.[UOL 1]

After the cataclysms of the Nerevarine Prophecy circa 3E 427, some accounts spoke of a trial put on to judge Vivec of his potential crimes. These accounts claim Dead Wolf-Deer still lived and resided in High Rock and that Vivec had someone retrieve one of his antlers in order to summon Azura.[UOL 2]

Notes[edit]

  • The Ring of the Wild Hunt artifact is comprised of five pieces, one of these pieces, the Face of the Wolf Beast has been theorized to depict Dead Wolf-Deer.[2]
  • A recitation of the Five Hundred Companions[UOL 3] amalgamates the slaughter of King Borgas by Dead Wolf's hands with the deeds of King Wulfharth.[4] In this variation, Borgas is slain by the power shouts of the "Lord of the Wulf's Hart" (or "Wulf's Heart"), then "monsters of the changewinds" arrive to claim his soul.[UOL 3]
