Calantius of Skingrad was the Count of Skingrad during the turbulent period of the Three Banners War.[1] With the support of the Elder Council of the Empire of Cyrodiil, he ordered the Legion of the West Weald to launch a campaign to take advantage of the political power vacuum and seize the South Weald.[2][3] Calantius was also the author of The Fort Sphinxmoth Ruins, a comprehensive text dedicated to detailing the history of Fort Sphinxmoth.[4]

History[edit]

Little is known of Calantius' past. At some point prior to the Planemeld, he penned The Fort Sphinxmoth Ruins.[4]

Calantius was described as a shrewd opportunist who had adeptly shielded his city from the ongoing chaos and conflict plaguing Cyrodiil. However, ruling over a populace with a military mindset, he harbored his own ambitions and seized the opportunity presented by the power vacuum in the south. Exploiting this situation, he had dispatched a legion of mercenaries to exploit or potentially even annex the border city of Arenthia in 2E 582. His decree called for deportation or forceful indentured labor of the native citizens of Arenthia on behalf of the new owners.[3][2][5] General Lavinia, leader of the Legion of the West Weald, attempted to annex the "South Weald" for the Empire of Cyrodiil, but was thwarted by resistances working with the Aldmeri Dominion.[6]
